Touchpal is a pretty good alternative to Swype. Free in the Market until Oct 31. I picked up the .apk even though I use Swype.

iPhone 4 reception issues where overblown. Not once have I had a issue. I've had more dropped calls on a blackberr.

Lol. I seriously have never had one phone call drop on my 4, not one. My 3gs was worse, and my BB before that was an absolute joke. The only reason I ended up in the iPhone world, ws because I lost my mind when my BB froze for the 4 time in the same day, and it ended up disintegrating against a brick wall.

I give RIM 12 months, 18 tops, then Microsoft or some other tech giant buys them, and tries to salvage what is left.

Lol that's what happened to me. I laugh at people saying you can't remove the battery. Why do I want to take my phone apart? It works I don't need to re boot it all the time.

I switched after being fed up with blackberry. The constant freezing was annoying, and just being slow. I had my phone in my pocket pulled it out and saw it was re booting again but froze so my phone was bricked. Got another one same crap.

One of my blackberrys fell in a toilet, I guess it was foreshadowing of where Tim was headed.

Bingo, and to me that has been the absolute allure of the iPhone. Rock solid relaibility. And the build quality is simply outstanding. Everything works, all the time, and any apps, are approved by Apple, to make sure they comply wity the device. Both times I got warrantied phones, was because I broke them with carelessness, and both times, Apple turned a blind eye.

It is also a weird way of thinking, but I like the lack of selection with iPhone. There is one device, just with different storage capacities, so it takes the confusion out of what to buy, and keeps the resale field level, and the learning curve consant when you buy a new one... as it just simply evolves, instead of being reinvented every time. At the end of the day, no 2 are alike anyway, once the end user installs all of his apps anyway.

I love my SwiftKey x keyboard. Makes going to an ios device feel like old technology and is so painful to type on.

I have an ipod touch and an ipad. I find they have their share of freezes. An ios freeze is a whole lot tougher to recover from than an android force close. Seems that to do anything beyond the most basic tasks in ios requires googleing for some secret combination of keys to hit, if you can do it at all.

I drop calls all the time on the iPhone 4, and it's annoying as hell. My family has gotten so accustomed to me dropping calls with them that they just wait for me to call back now and we don't even ask "what happened?". This never happened on my old BlackBerry and doesn't happen on my fiancées BlackBerry. The bumper helps a bit at least.

I guess being left handed is a curse with this phone. (I'm holding it wrong!)

Because you might run out of power during the day or on the road and just want to pop in a fresh battery like you would on a digital camera?

Really?

I found it to be totally intuitive. The first time I used it, I was already typing at twice the rate of manually hitting each button.

My only problem with it is that it is so easy to use, it makes me lazy. I find myself just randomly swirling my finger on my keyboard and expecting the swype to know what I mean.

I probably only send 5-10 emails/texts a day, but even that is enought to make me never use a device without swype. The manual keyboard from my old motorola Q was excellent, so I can see the apeal of certain blackbery devices. However, if I'm going touch screen, it has to have swype.

So you carry around another battery? Why not just get another phone which has a good battery life. My phone lasts me the entire day, and at times I use the heck out of it.

Regardless of the type of superphone you have (iphone, SGS2, etc), it's well known, for heavy users, that battery life can easily be less than a day (don't believe me, google it).

So ya, carrying around a fully charged battery to swap is easier then carrying around a charger, and waiting for it to recharge.

I have an external battery that holds almost an entire charge for an iPhone. I've only ever had to use it a couple times, but when I needed one it was there. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it did the trick.

For users of larger screened Android phones, does the inability to reach the other edge of the screen impact your use of Swype one-handed? Honest question, as I've never used Swype, but I can definitely type one handed with an iPhone sized device.

Never had a problem with screen size, but I've got massive hands.

Check out the drop test, for anyone who thinks that Samsung is made of super cheap materials that will easily break.
