Thank you for the people who answered the question! I had to have my wife sign up so I gave her a list of questions and she forgot that one. I am excited for the NCAA basketball tournament now since I will have a dedicated slingbox as well as web feed and 2 tv feeds

Yeah, I did the same thing yesterday. Only problem is, I'm not getting any more than 20MB download. Basically the same as before. Broadband 50 my a**. Of course they are sending someone out next Friday to look. Nothing has changed since the last guy came out two months ago. Ugh.

I didn't have time to test it yesterday. When I first got install I was getting 24 through wireless which I think was pretty decent. I also really noticed the difference in doing a ps3 update instead of slow and painful it was blazing quick

I am, you have to set it up as a "Moxi" or "Arris Moxi" box. That was the original name of the product Shaw has rebranded.

That will set you up with 99% of the codes you need right away. after that I did some tweaking for a few extra codes using the learn feature in the Harmony software.

If you google "Shaw Gateway Harmony" or add in "Moxi Harmoney codes" you should see a forum with instructions on how to do this. It works quite well.

I am having this bad boy installed tomorrow. Is there anything I need to be aware off? Best Location to install the gateway? Does everyone get a the SMC modem and if so what do I need to make sure the installer does?

Make sure you get set up for bb 50 and not extreme ie. they give you smc modem/router. They tried putting regular extreme in on me. Make sure your get all of your HD channels and that your internet speeds/"type of internet" is correct

What if I am not changing my internet package? Does it change automatically?

No only if you got the 968 promo. If not you will not have the smc router/modem unless you pay extra as a rental

Had this installed today. Took about 3 hours. Seems to be working well.

Couple questions

Is the remote always this slow? It is gonna drive my wife nuts and in turn me nuts.

Pause live tv and watch on another tv. How do you do it?

Is there an easy way to select a channel and see what is on in the future on that channel from the guide?

Why does foodhd show as channel 232.1 and not as foodhd

So far I like the system but my wife is going crazy. Nothing works "like it did before" blah blah blah. Is the learning curve for her going to be that bad. Normally she is ok but this is going crazy right now.

I find the remote annoying as well. I always hit the pause play buttons instead of the directional buttons. I have some harmony remotes that I am going to program and see if that makes it any better.

The remote/ guide seems to have sped up in the last week or so. You will be getting an update shortly.

Hit the record button (start recording), stop the program, resume the program at another location by using the PVR button. That's how I do it, there may be another way.

In the guide the right directional button. When watching live TV, hit the right directional button x 2.

An update will resolve this.

Can't help you here, I did the foundation work of warning the Ms. that there will be some growing pains with the new system, but when she can watch all "her" shows in her craft room she was open to the idea.

Thanks for the help.

I did warn my wife but as soon I told her you have to scroll the other way to see channels she lost all hope. I told her if my 6 year old daughter can figure it out what is your problem. Needless to say she was less than receptive to that comment.

All women are bipolar.

Very similar to an episode of Modern Family. You should schedule a screening of that episode in multiple locations, switching rooms during the commercial breaks...

It gets better. Keep up hope. It gets better with time. (and any other related generic phrase...)

Does anyone have any details on the rebate that will be provided to the early adopters of the Gateway?

Thanks for this notification, but the only link I could find was here:

http://www.cable-types.info/energy/c...evision-system

I am going to fire them an email today and ask. I'll post back whatever they say here.

I have had this for almost a week. I have to say it is pretty good. Changed some settinngs and the wife seems happy.

I was wondering if anyone has moved the gateway box. The installer put it in our bedroom but I want to move it. Better to have shaw do it?
