iirc, Darryl said there was only one contract available for Hugo Carpentier, Devin Didiomete and Jusso Puustinen. Puustinen wanted 1st rounder type money so he was let go.
Yeah, I remember him. I've even checked his stats over in Finland the odd time and they aren't bad when you consider good Euro stats are harder to get. I guess I can take him off the list of Flames hopefuls now. IIRC when he was chosen it was debatable whether he was on the old Euro rules and we held his rights in perpetuity or we lost them when he turned 20 and he wasn't signed.
I hate to be a thread necromancer, but why did Sutter let this guy go? From a statistical standpoint he had two good seasons in the dub, was over a ppg in the wjhc, had decent numbers in the FEL on what looked like teams that couldn't score, and has NHL size and apparently the skill to go with it.
2 goals in 2 games with the Preds farm team. What was the deal with Sutter & Puustinen?

So essentially he let go the guy that believed in himself more than others.
