I'm curious; just how many flyers are you getting from Canada Post? I would say that 90% of the total number of flyers I get come from flyer delivery; or 99% if going by weight. I would say that from Canada Post I average 1 or 2 single page leaflets per day; and maybe 1 or 2 of the "coupon book" types per week.
I've just heard several people talk about this strike in that "all they get from CP is flyers"- which is why I am curious.

I get the same amount as you.
So far I got a couple parcel deliveries, and a couple of pieces of other addressed mail + flyers. That's about it. (My mail is delivered by contract people)

I've had mail everyday they have been back so far. I'm sure that is just the backed up stuff though, I don't normally get much in the mail.

My dad lives in a seniors residence. They have about 150 mail boxes in one spot for everybody that lives there. They have a recyle bin right next to the wall of mailboxes. Most of the residences get there mail and then immediately dump all of the flyers into the recyle bin. What a waste.

Is it true that there is still much undelivered mail because of the strike, and that they will not be caught up until early October?

As far as I can tell. It is still taking twice as long to get mail from Ontario. Mail from here is fine.

I didn't get mail at all last week except for Friday. There better hurry their asses up since I'm waiting for two checks that were suppose to arrive earlier.

There is no future for the vast majority of those workers.
The dumbest thing about striking is that it makes everyone less dependent on mail delivery.

I don't give a damn if it is stupid. They should have the RIGHT to strike. Same with the Air Canada flight attendants. Being able to strike is a right that was fought for (sometimes literally fought for...). I think they are doing the right thing taking this to court.

Let them strike! They are doing nothing but shooting themselves in the foot by doing so as more and more people will switch to things like e-billing and realize sending a package through UPS/FedEX is only a few dollars more. If they strike long enough they might come back to nothing but flyers.

Let em strike, it doesn't effect me at all.
But to be honest, but your complaining about the government doing something completely legal to counter the strike. They should just walk off the job if they're so unhappy. Of course then Harper would reaganize them.
With the Air Canada strike for example the Union has reached what? Two agreements with Air Canada that the membership has failed to ratify. At this point they should then declare that the union doesn't represent them and decertify them.

Well, as for the government doing something "completely legal", that is a matter of opinion and thus why this is going to court. I can understand making firefighters an "esential service" but not postal mail.

I think the rotating strikes were such a good idea we should make them permanent. Delivery 2-3 days per week with half the staff/pay.

Postal service has been considered to be a essential service forever because of the potential impact on the economy and on everyday life due to things like unemployment checks and welfare checks etc.
While it might not be as essential now in our opinions the Government still has the ability to argue that its essential, especially during a fragile economy and that the workers shouldn't be able to hold the country hostage

This and nothing else. This is the only reason they were legislated back to work, the gov't doesn't want any additional downward pressure on the economy at such a key time, and I don't blame them.
But I also understand the position of the union, since they're being denied their right to collective bargaining, which is pretty big IMO.
