Also travelled to Huangshan this week, which is the most beautiful scenic place I have been to in China. A cloudy day, but really beautiful mountains.
It was a 7km uphill hike, and because it was National Day here there were over 30,000 people heading up the mountain that day. Families with very young children and even white-haired elderly people with canes were making this very long uphill climb.
Here is what it was like for basically the entire 3 hour hike up the mountain
Here are people finally spilling out onto the top where you can go on short hikes to various peaks.
And here are some pics of the scenery
I would certainly recommend Huangshan to anyone visiting China.
Edit: China has five mountains that are considered great mountains in Chinese culture. There is apparently also a saying here that if you see these five mountains you don't need to see any other mountains in China, but if you see Huangshan you don't need to see any of the other greats.

This makes me thinking of falling off the cliff into the fog in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

This high up in the mountains it is mostly umbrella pines, but at the lower elevations the mountains in this area are a beautiful mix of pine and bamboo forests very like those in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The way the bamboo trees sway in the breeze makes the mountains absolutely beautiful to watch.
Incidentally, the place where Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was mostly filmed is not so far from Shanghai and is a target for a mountain biking trip for me in October, so I may get some more pictures reminiscent of that flick pretty soon.
Huangshan was certainly the most impressive scenery I've seen in China though.

Regulator... or shall I say Nathan (I commented creeped you ) but those are some seriously impressive pictures you got. I think I say this to you every time, but you are one hell of a photographer. One of my favorites you have is lakeside. Truly fantastic. All your pictures are so sharp which I love.
You've also got a beautiful wife and baby! Congrats!

Up in the Highwood Pass area today, trudging many hours through the snow with Pete & Ruby . . . . .
Lotsa snow . . . .
Yesterday, on a perfect Fall morning daybreak, watching the gate with Pete and Ruby and Kitty, the 20+ year-old gnome . . . . .
and yesterday west of Turner Valley, Ruby peers into the Sheep River Gorge on a Fall day . . . .

How does iStock work?
I was told by a couple people I should sign up for that, but when I looked at it one night it was late and just went to bed, forgot about it since.

Basically, you have to send them a few samples of your work etc and they grant you approval to be a contributor. Then you basically submit whatever you want, but they do have some recommendations for what they're looking for and what they're not.
Example: They're not looking for a random hub cap etc.
Instead, things like cyber crime. So take a photo of a laptop with a pair of handcuffs etc.
More examples here: http://www.istockphoto.com/help/sell...re-looking-for
You then upload it and if someone buys it / downloads it, you get a % of that.
But I think there's some pretty stringent regulations with model releases if you have people in the photos.
This is all from what I've gathered reading their online stuff. I'll report back with more once I submit my application. Lots of Calgary people on there, submitting skyline photos, people, c-trains etc.

iStock pays contributors a base royalty rate of 15% for each file downloaded. If you are an Exclusive contributor you can earn up to 45%. Learn more

It was a Calgary based business, so I suppose that shouldn't be a surprise. Thanks for the info!
I wonder if my capture of "MMF drinks Cranraspberry from a Thor Slurpee cup" will get any attention.
