My first car was a 1967 Mustang
Back in high school I had as many as 7 people in it for the ride to school, bought a 1966 20 years later and have no idea how I ever got that many of us in it.

1996 Ford Taurus LX and it's an environmental hazard. I didn't pay a dime for it and I can't afford to buy anything better. I'm thinking it has about a year left in it... although I thought this when I first got it two years ago. It's a miracle that it's still running.

In a way, the second car might say more about someone than their first. The first ones typically tend to be hand-me-downs or beaters (or usually both) so there isn't always a choice, but people tend to buy their second car on their own when they have a little bit of money. My guess is there would be a lot of Mazda 3's on that list....or if you work downtown, leased BMW's 3-series!

Truth be told, I do entertain thoughts of tracking another left hand drive one around the same vintage and fixing it up, doing another engine swap, and the like.
BTW, my dad isn't all crazy in the cars department. He's currently near the tail end of a 5+ year rebuild on a 1928 Ford 5 Window Coupe street rod rebuild and their second vehicle is a 1970 Chev 1/2 tonne in pristine condition and had a recent engine rebuild/restore. The truck has been in the family since new, via my grandpa. I hope to one day tow my '73 Boler with it but we'll see.

Pontiac 6000 LE, sort of like this but with all-white trim.
I think it was a previously-used car from the 88 Olympics, or if not, then at least the same edition that was used for Olympics transport. Our family had it since about 89, but I didn't get it until about 98. It's rusting out at my parents' farm now.

In 2004 bought basically exactly this - 87 Honda Accord. A great first vehicle. Loved the flip up headlamps. Night Rider style.

1981 Ford Mustang 3.3 straight 6 for $1500 at Hyatt Auto sales on Blackfoot Trail in 1990. Bought the car in November, and it was MINT. Installed 5.0 badges on the side, and that right there was good for at least 3 handjobs.
FFWD 21 years, I am the finance manager for the guy who sold me that car at his VW dealership.

A sweet '79 Vette....
...of course it was a Chevette, that was supposed to be red, but was more of a dull oxidized maroon.
