Bought the game today and im averaging about 5 unsportsmanlike penalties a game. I like the game, but are they planning on fixing this anytime soon?

How are you doing that?

I've gotten a couple of goaltending interference calls in my first 20 games. Some interference calls, but I've run around like a complete jerk and I'm not getting those type of penalties.

Man as soon as I start playing online, I get raped terribly. How do you stop the other guys from stealing the puck at will from you? And how do I take the puck as easily from them as they do to me? I thought I was getting good beating the computer most of the time on the Pro setting, but yeah, online i am getting schooled.

Yeah, I always get one after refusing to fight (which I think is a waste of time).

Am I doing anything to pick a fight without me knowing? Maybe I'm pressing something while I'm button jamming that's making me pick a fight? I got no clue, but it's annoying.

I've played 5 games and haven't won a game 4 shootout losses in that time.

sweet baby jebus, finally fixed the quit during HUT playoff bug where people would quit with 3 seconds left if they're losing and you don't get the win.

god that was stupid last year.

IF you press Y (360) it instigates a fight. if the other guy doesn't drop em, you get an unsportsmanlike

However, if you're near the boards, Y initiates board play.

Overall I think that this game is a big improvement over last years in terms of game play (just started playing yesterday, Be A Pro defenseman)

While it takes a lot longer to get through a game, even with the shift sim, the game play is a lot more enjoyable. Players try to jump into the open gaps when I have the puck, or head to the front of the net. The goalies especially at the junior level are quite so supermanish, and the strategy of shooting low and looking for rebounds actually works really well.

The hits look better, the puck behaves more realistically, and overall we don't have things like the 40 LW to LD passing back and forth, or the same circling plays in the neutral zone.

The hitting once you get a handle on it is just flat out better, and now you can really take yourself badly out of the play.

I like the BAP feature that makes you play a whole junior season and work towards your draft position, and there's nothing better then murdering RNH when he steps over the blueline, I've put him through the glass twice.

Some of the smaller annoyances, its great that you can clobber the goaltender, but you tend to get hooked up on him, and when you push your way free you get this great visual of him going 30 feet in the air and spiraling to the ground.

The tasks tend to be impossible, things like not allowing a goal in the first ten minutes, is silly because as soon as you step off of the ice, the opposition seems to score.

The play the point on the powerplay doesn't work if your not assigned to the powerplay.

Other then that, the game just seems more fun then the last few years.

I feel kind of ripped off as I haven't seen the airborne spiraling goalie, but I do take a lot of goal-tender interference penalties. More than I'd like for sure. But the game-play is really so much improved across the board.

GM mode still completely sucks donkey-balls. Please, EA, go back and look at how they did it in ESPN 2K7. Four-player GM mode that went for over 300 years. Hell yeah.

To play online and have a chance you pretty much have to be winning all your games on hall of famer. People play all day everday online and are machines.

Good Luck

if you use offline BAP to unlock boosts for eashl, you have to get sent to the ahl for them to take properly.

earn the boosts as normal (play only 3rd period, play on maxed sliders) and earn the ones you need such as 40 games played, 2 goals a game etc. then when the season ends nothing will happen. sim to the next season. then sim all the way through the next season. becaise of simming, you get demoted. thats a good thing. you have to finish the season in the ahl and then things will unlock that you earned the previous year. its not 100% but it worked for me after trying tons of other things. just remember to make lots of saces along the way in case you need to go back and correct something.

Load a save game prior to the retirement, and he may not retire.

I believe it's just random for players over a certain age.

If you don't have a previous save game, or that doesn't work... I guess the bright side is 7mil of capspace to go sign someone :P

Did the most recent tuner change faceoffs?

I suddenly have gone from being quite good at faceoffs, to dismal.

To play it safe they should just have players retire at 40. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule like Lidstrom and Selanne, but it would be sufficient for most players in the league.

Good to know, I will trade him at the deadline to load up on picks and prospects!! then if he doesn't retire I will just re-sign him!

This is all the last 2 tuners have fixed:

----v1.02----
1) Reduced effectiveness of hip checks to Versus and HUT, previously this was only applied to OTP/Clubs

2) Decreased distance traveled when diving for a poke check because it was too effective in certain situations (applies to all online and offline modes)

----v1.01----
V1.01 (effects all modes, except offline with V1.00)
-Small adjustment to goalie hug post to reduce vulnerability to far side goals coming around the net
-Small adjustment to guard the near post on shots
-Increase skating friction while doing protect puck (pretty small amount)
-Reduce stick lift penalties (hitting the hands is not a penalty now in some situations)

OTP Specific Changes:
- Made hip checks ineffective to prevent exploit

-Call interference on medium hits more strictly
-Make poke check radius slightly larger
