I'm a little concerned about the number of entries...the guy who picks #1-5 has a huge advantage over someone picking say #17-20. The players there are probably 40 points behind.

Yeah, but with back to back top thirty picks. First round has to wait for 45 picks before selecting again.

True enough, but the dropoff there is only about 10 points.

I would rather pick #20, 21 than #1,40.
You could make a motion to have goalies again, that might alleviate some of your concern.
I think the pool is often won in rounds 5-10 anyway.

Well I'm not going to rock the boat or anything, but you know what I mean here. Last year the top players were in around 100 points. Twentieth was around 70 points and and fortieth around 62. So after the first two rounds its a 20 point gap. By the time the guy picking 20th gets a pick again (at 60th) things are pretty even with most guys around 57ish points.
It is what it is I guess, but its still a huge drop off between 1-20. It'll be interesting to see whether it matters at the end of it all. Of course the wildcard in all of this is injuries...
Anyway, I'll be there at about 3:30-4 I'd say.

Good point, I propose that we all select first overall. Gap = closed!

I think last years winner drafted last or second last.
Injuries play a pretty big part also, just ask arloiginla.

You could drop the top several players entirely. Maybe the projected top five to 10 players would be ineligible.

As long as I get Crosby and Ovechkin, I don't really care what we do.

No, just pointing out the inequality. The NDP wants it to all be even and the extreme right wingers (like you!) would exploit that difference!
Like I say I know that everyone has a chance and that injuries are a big factor. I hope that my posts didn't come across as whiny or complaining because I'm really not doing either. Just a note about how big the pool is and the discrepancies that causes. Picking first or top 4-5 is a fairly significant advantage, thats all. Obviously if you pick a guy top 5 and he gets concussed the advantage could disappear, but all things being equal its undeniable.

Yeah, but last year the top 5 guys didn't include the likes of Crosby and Ovechkin. It's still a bit of a crap shoot when you consider that Corey Freakin Perry was a hundred point guy last year. Anything can happen and there are a good fifteen to twenty guys in the NHL capable of putting up a hundred points.
