I like to see what he is doing! So far nothing he has had to do the patent unplug plug back in method and is on with tech support lol they are struggling. It even started raining so I guess god is crying at how painful the last hour and a half has been! I hope it's worth it.

Don't be one of those hovering customers... the Shaw installer at my place talked about how awkward his last install was because it was a one bedroom apartment.
I took the hint.

I'm not im in my kitchen playing on laptop and he is doing his thing in bedroom and downstairs. Unfortunately my house is pretty small and theres not much else I can do since I don't have tv
1 negative all ready with gateway is that you can't use ir extenders on it! Which sucks for my setup! Luckily the portals are small so I wont mind it visible in the bedroom and I still have an old IR repeater that I use in my home theater that I will set up for my main floor.
I also didn't get sport channels or timeshift when he finally got things going so i'm assuming he will get that fixed before he leaves since he is aware of it.

There is one thing that I discovered about the gateway system that i love.
I jumped in 15 minutes late into a show yesterday and decided to record the finish. To my delight the entire program was recorded including the part i missed.

Looks like those who bought in early might be getting a credit for the price drop

Yeah there have been a few times where I haven't even been on the channel and when I switch to it, I'm still able to rewind to the beginning of the show.

I'm surprised they are giving customers a rebate. With any technology, you know something better and/or cheaper will come along. The same model of TVs, Blu Ray players, PVRs, cameras, laptop computers, cars, etc. will all go down in price. If you want the latest in technology you'll pay a premium and have some bugs to work out. That's why I seldom buy any of these in the first few months they are released. I know there will be a price drop and I know some bugs will need to be worked out.
When you agreed to purchase the item, you agreed upon a price. Unless there is a policy that if the price drops in the next two weeks or so you get the difference, I don't get why you wouldn't forsee the price dropping after a while.

Shaw called me back today, since today is the first day they could enter in the system that I was getting the Gateway for $348. It will be installed tomorrow morning. I'm pretty excited. Very good turnaround time too.

No. I can watch Centre Ice and Sunday Ticket on my HDPVR which I traded in for last year around this time. It would have worked still this year, had I ordered those channels.

All in the corner of my apartment where the cable comes in. There is now a DPT, Gateway, and Cisco modem/ router there. I have a mess of things that require power in that area.
I think I need to get a UPS. TV, Stereo, modem/ router, dpt, gateway+portal, PS3.
What is the best solution for power management? I live in an apartment, I doubt I will be doing many breaker panel circuit enhancements.

I have one of the Pace models, DC758D? Guess there won't be mpeg4 for me.
EDIT: Oh, it does support mpeg4. Cool.

I just had the Gateway system put in my house. I have one TV upstairs and one in my bedroom. It looks and acts great so far and it took the guy about 75 minutes to instal everything.
One thing I thought was the modem and router was in the Gateway system. I still have my Shaw purchased modem and DLink router hooked up. I thought I wouldn't need these anymore, but I'll see about it when I get home.

After having my Gateway for a few hours, I'm mostly still impressed. The remote is a little slow to react, so sometimes I end up on screens I don't want to be. I finally figured out how to get the box and my TV to HD and widescreen settings. What I don't like about the guide is when I had my HDPVR box I could hit guide twice and it would give me a single channel's upcoming shows. Can this be done with Gateway? I also would like to know if I can change the display on the portal to the channel instead of the time. The time is also a minute behind schedule and I can't see how to change it. I have channels 210-212, but they show up as empty lines in my guide.
My biggest complaint is it won't show me what station (FOX, CBS, etc.) each channel is on the guide. It only shows the number.
Hopefully I can figure these things out, as the multi-room PVR is awesome. The signal is good and it's just a few tweaks to make it perfect.
