I read somewhere too that he sold all his millions of original Apple stock, except one share (in order to get the annual report), when he left in the mid 80's. If he held onto it all at the time, he'd be worth 6 or 7 times as much (something like 35 billion) and be in the top 5 richest people in the world, FWIW.

Even if you are not an apple fanboy, and I don't consider myself one I don't have anything apple outside of the iphone, when people look back in 100 years at this whole era of the boom of technology with computers and phones etc. he is right there at the top with only a handful of others

just a complete visionary

It's not often someone I didn't know dies and I feel sad. I have a pit in my stomach right now for some reason. I don't LOVE Apple by any means, but man.. Why do I feel this way?

probably for the same reason as I do....I wasn't an Apple fan at all and avoided them out of spite of how popular it was but in the end we can't deny that Steve Jobs was a genius and did alot of great work and that kind of impact will always be felt regardless of how you felt about the company.

RIP

I agree with all the above.

A different person, a cyber-friend I'd never met but kibitzed through cyberspace for the last decade, died suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack Saturday at only 53 years of age.

That as well as others I've known who have gone early and now Steve Jobs . . . . life is a fickle thing and sometimes it seems that we keep going only through random rolls of the dice.

I think jobs is one of those characters who's impact and legacy will only grow.

He/Apple are the one company that have put the biggest dent in unifying all of our devices into one simple, reliable ultra portable unit. You could argue that the iPad and iPhone are already such devices, because if push came to shove, I could completely function with either one of the two, and not miss a beat.

There are a lot of products now that are trying to copy iEverything, but nothing comes close to the ease of function, the quality, and reliability of Apple's products. And that can be attributed to Jobs's OCD like attention to detail.

Once I put my hands the the iPhone for the first time, I was converted into the fanboy camp. That device truly changed the way I live my life.

You can keep the money and the fame and I think I'd still trade my 80? years of ho-hum existence for his 56 years of amazing experiences and accomplishments.

Is there an app for Steve Jobs dying?

In all seriousness, it's the end of an era. I didn't use any of his products, but they did pave the way for the ones I do use.

RIP Steve
