I still wonder to this day why after Best of Both Worlds, Riker didn't get any more character development.

I remember watching the episode called Genesis which was just out in left field. The crew had deformed to primitive creatures. Worf was this killer beast running around destroying everything. Troi was some sort of frog. Riker was the Geico caveman.

I could never get into Deep Space Nine. I never gave it more than a few episodes in a row to get into it though. The original and TNG were the only ones I could get into.

That always bothers the crap out of me, you have a transporter, and these mega tonne anti matter explosives.

I get that the Borg have these super advanced shields, but the federation seemed to be able to either beam back and forth at will, or to fly a shuttle through their shields to beam aboard.

So you beam the biggest anti matter explosive inside the Borq ship and suddenly their super armour and shields that protect from the outside try to contain an internal explosion and you gut the ship.

Or better yet, you beam aboard with Wesley, throw him at the borg to be assimilated and the whole race becomes annoying nerds and self destruct.

And what the hell was with giving him super powers where he could just freeze time, blah blah blah, and then suddenly he shows up in that really awful Star Trek movie in a academy uniform. Did the traveller finally have enough of him and kick him out of the super friends?

The borg became immasculated and useless thanks to Hugh, once they started that crap and the borg queen crap and then let Voyager use them as the boiler plate villian they became outright stupid.

And the only thing good about 7 of 9 was her wardrobe.

At the time, Patrick Stewart's contract was expiring and they didn't know if he would come back so there was a possibility that Riker would have become Captain if Picard didn't come back in Best of Both Worlds Part II. They wrote part I without knowing what would happen in Part II.

Also, in that episode where Riker had his transporter clone, they toyed with the idea of killing off Commander Riker and replacing him with Data. His clone would sit at conn then.

Season 1 and 2 kind of sucked badly, 3 was alright and then 4-7 were awesome.

7 of 9 was a bad copy of Data, but with fantastic breasts. Such a lame character. Still an improvement on Kes, however.

Yeah, it was definitely season 1 and 2. I gave up on it then... maybe a bit too quickly. If most TNG fans seem to like DS9, then I would probably try it again.

I also tried to get into the most recent one with Scott Bakula. I thought it had potential, but the stories were so boring. Voyager? Don't even mention that crap.

What made DS9 awesome in those last 3 seasons were really the back ground characters coming to the foreground.

Garrick (sp?) became an amazing character as did Quark. Leeta was one of the breast characters on T.V.

And you always wanted to hear Morn say something.

When they killed off Dax and bought her back as Ezra (sp?) it created a whole new fairly cool character arch for three of the major players.

And DS 9 just made the Klingon's better after STNG wrecked them completely, they made the Romulan's awesome after TNG made them into the Tasha Yar's daughter variety hour of stupidity.

And the dominion was very well written and an understandable enemy, they made sense.

Man I hated Voyager because every solution required the invention of a whole new technology on the fly that would just fix everything.

Jake actually appeared in very few episodes and his character always had realistic motivations and was flawed. I mean, he was a writer/journalist who didn't even want to be in Starfleet. He wasn't written as the genius who would save the day like Wesley.

DS9 is almost a completely different show season 4-7 than 1-3. There were some great episodes in 1-3 though when it was more of a show about cultural/race/religion issues with the Bajorans and humans and they had more room to play and explore different random things before the war took over everything in the last half of the series.

That episode was an amazing episode, it was right up with the one where Sisko shattered the Romulon Dominion alliance with the help Of Garack.

and Jake was a good background character who would throw in strong performances like the one in "Take me out to the Ball Game"
