they likely put you on a month free preview. i believe those will unlock every channel for 30 days except the porn and PPV ones

I just got a Shaw survey in the email, maybe because of my recent calls to them? It was on both their products and services - keep your eyes out, you may be able to send them some direct feedback.

Getting a tech out on Saturday to set up the Broadband 50/HDTV + Choice Pack/Home Phone deal.
Currently have them all bundled but for about $40 more than what the Personalizer Plan gets us.
Excited to have a nice big HDTV for hockey season!

I used all three methods of attack simultaneously last night. Tweeted at about 4:50pm, accessed Online help shortly after. I called at about 5:00pm, I got the callback feature at about 5:30. The only response I got was a callback at 9:50pm.

Phoning Shaw's Tech Support has been a joke lately. I called one night because I lost my cable and internet. First I tried holding but it is taking so long so I hang up. Tried calling again and did the call back. They called me back after 40 minutes. They couldn't fixed my cable and internet. Was told they will send somebody but it won't be until after a week. I told the guy i can't wait that long. I ended up fixing the problem myself after a few minutes talking to the guy. Now every time something is wrong with my internet, i just try to fix the thing myself rather than calling them and wait for a long time to talk to somebody.

Nice... how many times did it take calling before you finally got lucky with a CSR?
... wait, that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean.
I love the new gateway system, still a little buggy, but other than a delayed response from the portal occasionally, it's working pretty flawlessly.

Holy wow, just go to www.ratemyemployer.ca and look up Shaw Comm.
Take a look at nothing but horrible reviews for working for this company. Apparently its gone downhill in the past year since their massive restructure and layoffs. That should explain the 2hr waits and 2 week service calls.
Anyone here ever work (or know anyone) whos worked for shaw? I cant believe its that bad but after reading all those reviews wow.

I cancelled my services so I lost my number and I am stuck with 587 area code so they won there.
Took my wife 2 times to call in to order got a nice lady who explained everything to her and gave her the promo and didn't mention that we needed the flyer at all.

Well in all fairness a happy employee is less likely to go to ratemyemployer and post a glowing review. Having said that, I do know some people who worked there on the web/interactive team (actually interviewed there myself in spring of 2009) and they were all quite happy at the time.
However they all got the axe during the massive layoffs and I've yet to hear any of them defend Shaw since. They don't really bad mouth it per say, but they don't seem to have anything nice to say about it now.
But yeah, seems like Shaw has really gone sideways over the last year.

I can see where some people are coming from on those reviews. There are challenges when dealing with a big company, and it depends what part of the business you're a part of.
Personally, I'm really happy working at Shaw. I've been working in the background a lot over the past year, and that's about to change, and I couldn't be happier. We've got support from management on some really cool stuff.
Unfortunately I can't really help anyone on the customer service side of things.. at least not yet. We're trying to think of ideas where my team could help on that front, in terms of reducing call volumes and providing alternative sources of contact. My biggest issue is that I need more developers on my team. Anyone who has a strong background in iOS should PM me.

From what i sum up on that site. Shaw has gone downhill, constantly lies to their staff and encourages staff to lie to customers just to get the sale, doesnt care about their staff, no values, no integrity, gave the good higher paying staff the pink slip just to cut costs and the owners get more $ cause theyre greedy $%$#%^, clueless really young managers who are kids, the morale is unbearably low, the office is toxic, no leadership from management, super high turnover rate, outdated and crappy phone equipment, its a sweatshop. Ya thats more than enough to steer me away from any company. Cant stand companies with shotty management, been there, done that, will never do it again.
Also from what i was told, Shaw is going through a local temp agency right now in hopes of hiring 100 new CSRs. From what the temp agency told me, 3 from last week got fired already lol and 4 didnt even bother showing. Wanna bet those 4 people read and heard all the negativity about how the place has down the crapper at the last min?

Wow, I just got a bill in the mail from shaw for 185$. My old monthly rate for everything was around 89$. I cannot believe it took this big of a jump. I called and they offered me basic cable, plus HD and the sports package, 50 internet and no home phone for 110$. That is way less product for 20$ more. I cant stand this crap. Why do I have to vehemently negotiate my freaking tv bill every couple of months??

Agreed.
My "promos" are coming to an end as of the end of this month. I went online and did the Shaw Plan Personalizer and my bill jumps by about $60 a month.
I'm hoping I can do better than that. After I decided everything I wanted, they gave me the chance to post my phone number and have someone call me about the plan for my account. Said they would call within 2 business days. That was Friday...

Pretty good so far. I think the fastest I've ever hit on a download is around 2.5-2.8MB/s, so I've never hit the theoretical high of about 6MB/s. But 2.5 is plenty fast for me. And that 400 GB cap is insane for me. I think I usually do about 50-70 GB a month. There's no way I can even get close to that 400, which is great since I basically don't have to monitor my bandwidth anymore.

God, I call telus and they want me to pay 140$. I think I'll just cancel everything and start drinking more. It'll probably be cheaper.

So without reading through the last couple of pages, can some people tell me what their 'new' deals if any at all are with Shaw?
Our $89 promo we had for the last year including PVR rental, HD Plus (including all the sports HD), Extreme internet and phone (voicemail and caller id) is coming to an end this month.
Just trying to find a similar bundle or any sort of bundle and seeing what I can try to negotiate with Shaw CSR's.
Thanks.

my biggest problem when i worked for them was the total disconnect from management and staff. at my last position there, if you put my team lead or manager in my chair for a day they would have no clue how to do my job. whereas where i'm at now my team lead does much of the same stuff that i do, and even my manager will jump in and lend a hand if we're short staffed. it's a big reason why they're such a stats driven company in almost every department, management never looks at the quality of your work or what the circumstances were, they just look at the numbers
the pay is also pretty bad, especially in IT compared to other companies. it's very much a family club, if you're able to get close to someone important then you're pretty well set, but your average worker is looked at as expendable. that's why they have such a high turnover in most departments, seeing someone hit their 10 year anniversary with Shaw is an extremely rare thing
