Yeah nothing is as exciting with 2 minutes left in a close game and the QB takes a knee 4 straight times. exciting stuff!

You must be a lot of fun to hang out with, what with being so good at taking jokes and all. This is actually my only actual beef with the CFL, the over protective fans who can't take a joke.

I heard they're around 40 000 right now. The threat of a tv blackout might drive some people to the game. I think with walk up, when all is said and done, it will be pretty damn close to a sell out.

I think this is the only time I've ever seen Bertuzzied break character and respond seriously to someone......well, half seriously, at least.

How does that compute? Whitecaps who have their jerseys sponsored by BELL play in TELUS Place, which is next to ROGERS Arena?

No doubt, good thing they did a lot more than add a roof.

Look at that, a similar issue at Cowboys stadium was addressed after the stadium had been open: "According to Birdair, the reheating and re-welding of the seams is part of the stadium's final "punch list" — a list of "minor" issues that need to be addressed. A Birdair spokesman told News 8 that the issues are typical in large projects like this."
But hey, what would those guys know about what's typical in this type of project, they're only experts on it.

we're you involved in the build or something?
I personally consider leaking on anything that costs more than 500m 3 days before it opens to be a problem, I don't like the outside look of the stadium, although I will admit the pictures VFF posted from inside look great
I just think that for the amount of money they spent it should be finished on time and not have those ghastly spikes on the outside
I wanted to like it, I have no reason not too, but at this point I don't at all

I have no connection to it and will likely never set foot in it, I just find it annoying when people take shots at something without any idea what they're talking about. It's a massive project and issues created by severe weather that will likely be touched up in the next week or so are grounds to get up in arms over?
As far as it being done on time, any project of this scale will have things that are still being completed at opening. As you can see from the link I posted one of the final touches in things like this is often roof sealing. Venues are rarely completely done before their first event. The spikes are a taste thing, I think they look kind of cool but I haven't seen it in person.

Yeah, diane_phaneuf seems to love a lot of things Vancouver, so I take their opinion seriously. It's not like taking Reggie_Dunlop seriously on the topic of Edmonton....

According to Wiki:
Qwest field in Seattle cost $525 million in inflation adjusted 2011 dollars.
Metlife Stadium in New York cost 1.6 billion
Lucas Oil Stadium cost $725 million
Ford Field cost $525 million in inflation adjusted 2011 dollars.
University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona cost $496 million in inflation adjusted 2011 dollars.
Seems like they could have just built a new stadium for between 500-600 million.

They were going to build it near the Pan Pacific/Waterfront but there were some issues with the land there (environmental issues, I believe).

fair enough
I'm not really getting up in arms or protesting over it, it's just disappointing to me that it's not completely done in time, and I think it was poorly designed etc. but as you said that is a taste issue on my part
I know people who like the design, I hadn't seen the inside until that picture VFF posted so I am warming to it. The Spikes to me though will always be bad

I am extremely curious to see how the artificial surface performs. It is a relatively new product to North America provided by Polytan and Centaur Products, but has been given rave reviews in all other recent applications. This particular field is line free and will continue to have a full time maintenance crew that installs and removes the lines as needed using a very cool paint applicator. This process is similar to what they do at the Seahawks Stadium which is the first of its kind.
As I am employed by one of these companies I will leave it at that but if anyone is interested in what seperates the product we sell from all of the others feel free to ask or shoot me a PM.
