I completely understand the OPs question as my brother in law would have probably passed out if he saw that. He is that phobic about needles.

Saying that, I think it is less rude than talking on your cell phone at a nice restaurant.

Yeah, I saw your other responses after I posted. I think we're on the same page, or at least pretty close.

Are you serious? I can't imagine what I've said that would be so upsetting to you that you'd be worried about punitive measures by the mods if you spoke your true feelings.

I've calmed down now, but your comparison to farts did it for me at the time.

In any event, couldn't you just pay attention to the company at your own table rather than checking out what a dude at another table is up to?

Lets just say that is the case.

Gonna be offended by it? - Stop looking at the dude.

Problem solved.

Go to the bathroom to do it. Problem solved. See, we can both play the over simplification game.

I find your attitude to be one of the more absurd in this thread.

How about breastfeeding in public? Jokes aside, what do you guys think? I personally think it is ok as long as the women don't do it while eating...

Public? Fine.

Work? No. (and yes this is an issue for some feminists)

I bet you think babies should be breastfed there as well.

Why should someone go to a bathroom which could be unhygenic to carry out a routine that is essential to their health and which needs to be carried out immediately prior to a meal.

There is nothing simplistic or absurd about my remedy of minding your own business and looking away.

I would have an issue with it in the middle of a restaurant, again it's an issue of common courtesy and barring some sort of extenuating circumstance there's no reason to not find a more private location or at least one that's not where numerous people are eating. Other public settings are typically not an issue for me, it's really just a matter of discretion, although it seems to increasingly be the case in all aspects of life that people never take a second to consider that they aren't the only people in the world.

Personally, I'm fine with breastfeeding. That's a normal occurrence plus I've seen more than a few nip slips over the years, which is a little added bonus.

First, I would suggest eating elsewhere if you are dining in places where a bathroom is that unhygenic.

And great timing with the breastfeeding comment, see my post above. I assume you're one of the self entitled people I refer to at the end. It's all about what I need right? Why take a moment to consider that maybe there are better alternatives and that my actions might impact someone else? This is about me!

Alanis Morrisette called.

She wants to thank you for helping her finally understand the meaning of irony.

He wouldn't be in danger of passing out. Insulin is used to lower an impending blood sugar spike(from the food). Naturally, insulin occurs in the pancrease and is released after we eat. Its job is to allow your liver, muscles and fat to absorb the sugar in your blood, turning it into glycogen and store it for later. A diabetic will inject insulin in anticipation of a blood-glucose spike. A bigger concern would be low blood sugar, and insulin would not be used in that instance.

As for this situation; it doesn't bother me but I can see how it would for others. I imagine most people would go to the bathroom to do it. Could be in this case the bathroom was occupied? A friend of mine is diabetic, and he'll inject at the table but not before asking if it's cool and doing it extremely discreetly. Most people wouldn't notice if not asked.

I'm not sure why we would expect someone else to remove themselves from the public eye to do something that's medically necessary, when we could just look away - if it happens to bother us.

A slight inconvenience on our part to remove a significantly bigger inconvenience on their part. And it's really a stretch to call "looking away from something we don't want to see anyway", even a slight inconvenience.

Good to hear. Apparently it's ironic to be considerate of your actions while asking the same of others. An interesting definition to say the least.
