The more I read about this event the worse it gets. Now those associated with the event are saying that proceeds were to be donated to charity. From the beginning it was a fundraiser for an upcoming jazz festival. Glad I didn't go.
My friends and I skipped on the Community Centre part of BaconFest and went to the Bowness Pub next door that had a special BaconFest menu. Sounds like we made the right call.
I was beyond disappointed with this event. The name "Baconfest" is indicative of bacon being there. This should have been called bacon bits sprinkled on stuff fest. I showed up around 12:30, paid $23.75 and I could not buy a slice of bacon-in fact some of the vendors were sold out. We spoke with a father and his two children who have been looking forward to this event for months-they were practically in tears. My friends and I ended up going to a pub downtown and ordering a plate of bacon.
Kinda of a weird event to take children to. I was thinking more of a frat boy crowd. Though children crying over false promises about bacony fun is a potent image.
