Don't let that stop you.

Yes, but he plays for the national team I support the most.

I dont like international hockey and don't have a connection to a manufactured team that gets together for two weeks every 4 years, so I got no problem hating certain Canadian hockey players like the ones you listed.

Just my opinion.

I didnt know where else to put this:

Quote:
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has indicated the club are still keen to sign Mario Gotze despite Borussia Dortmund warning them against making a bid.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Sport Bild last month: "Mario does not have the idea to change to another team within Germany. You can completely forget about it. Bayern can save themselves an offer - we would be totally stupid to let him go there."

Rummenigge, though, believes Gotze may well be tempted by a move to Bayern.

"Those kinds of comments are quite remarkable," he told Sport Bild. "There are three parties involved in a transfer; it remains to be seen whether the player agrees with him.

I have a feeling you will see Sir Alex Ferguson make a surprise bid for Gotze. He seems like a good fit in their youth movement and as a potential long term replacement for the creative role that Scholes held.

It wouldnt surprise me, but again, Bayern have a very solid pattern of picking up German internationals.

Agreed, but that is because German players are notoriously underrated and for some reason the big teams in England/Italy/Spain seem to overlook German players.

I think that mentality has started to shift though and you are seeing younger Germans leaving the premier league, Ozil and Khedira being the main examples.

To me Man U is seen as the more prestigious squad and if Man U comes with an offer that is in the same range as Bayern I think Gotze would see them as a bigger step up.

I'll agree, but I'm going to put on my tinfoil hat for a second here.

A lot of Bayern's executive staff work both for Bayern and Germany. Karl-Heinz Ruminnegge for instance works for Bayern, Germany and the ECA (I think).

In that capacity I think Bayern have more sway than many realize when it comes to signing German players.

What I'm basically saying is that I think Bayern have the power to tell a player that if he signs somewhere else he likely gets dropped from Germany. I believe they did this with Manuel Neuer and Mario Gomez.

They can get away with it because Germany and Bayern both have a wealth of talent. Bayern never expressed an interest in Ozil or Khedira at tyhe time and so were unconcerned that they went to Real, particularly because they were leaving the country and wouldnt really be opposition.

Not to mention, if Gotze goes somewhere and they're choked about it they still have tons of midfield options without him.

The Germans are a very underrated nation of developing talent. You'd think with all the thrashings they've delivered to England some of the big Clubs would have started to notice.

That said, I hope Liverpool sign Gotze.

Gotze won't go to Bayern, I think it will be a case of Dortmund not wanting to strengthen their rivals and Bayern can't offer as much as United/Madrid/Barca

I think he's a United player by 2013

But if he left this summer it wouldn't shock me

Who is everybody watching today?

The only real interesting matchups are Ajax/Real Madrid, as Madrid have been in strange form.

I'll be watching Bayern vs. Manchester City.

Well, since my options are Napoli v.Villareal or ManU v. Basel, I reckon it'll be Napoli/Villareal. Stupid cable...

Dinamo Zagreb versus Lyon. 2-0 is my prediction...Kelava keeps it close for the Zagreb, but with a lack of finish, I can't see Dinamo winning or drawing this one.

City are very aggressive, pushing forward a lot. Its been very back and forth, I doubt we'll see anyone crushing anyone. Looks promising to be a very tight match.

MUFC cruising. Best part is Gary Neville doing the colour commentary. I hope Sky puts him on colour duties for MUFC v. Liverpool matches.

Bayern have been owning possession and had several opportunities but cant hit the net, finally they get another quality chance, Joe Hart makes 2 incredible stops but Gomez taps home.

1-0 Bayern.

Wow. Bayern are all over City, nevermind what I said before. City cant get the ball out of their own half.

I feel bad for Joe Hart, hes made several really good saves, but he cant hold the ball and Gomez has now punished him for it twice. 2-0 Bayern.

The City defence is just getting run around and torn apart.
