Cant find the info anywhere. However , if they were Big 12 officials then I am embarrassed. That was a sad sad excuse for officiating. However I am happy with the outcome. The game gave me a heart attack almost. I still didnt see why the hit that knocked out the FSU player was illegal and why was it not a fumble. It sucks that it happened but it is football .
It should have been a fumble, no question in my book.
The hit was illegal because of the helmet to helmet contact. Even if the receiver is lowering his head/falling, the onus is on the defender to avoid the helmet to helmet contact.
Plus, the optics of a hit like that will lead to a flag almost every time. As soon as the defender lowered his head, it was pretty much a lock.

It was shoulder hit. They didn't lead with their heads. The FSU player needs to tighten his helmet.

shows that he lead with his shoulder not his head. It's also not just the FSU player, but football players in general are more worried about looking cool instead of having their headgear strapped down tight.

And where exactly in that clip do you see his headgear not strapped down? The part where the collision breaks the strap loose from the helmet? How does a tighter strap change that exactly? Have you worn that style of chinstrap? Do you have any idea how it's supposed to fit?
As for the leading with the shoulder, he certainly drives his shoulder through the hit but the clip clearly shows helmet to helmet contact. He doesn't lead full on with the helmet, but the contact is there. Deny it if you want, but you're quite obviously being willfully ignorant of what is shown.

Pac-12 officials are engaged in "active discussions" with Texas and Oklahoma about how to make the Big 12 schools' addition to the conference work, a source within the Big 12 confirmed to ESPN.com's Joe Schad.

At first contact the strap comes loose, the helmet manufacture needs to find someway to stop that from happening. Unless they start slide tackling like in soccer, football players will always lead with their heads to tackle someone.

So now it's on the manufacturer? I thought it was the player not wearing his strap tight enough? Sorry, I just don't take kindly to somebody going after a guy on a completely illogical basis. As for the manufacturer, short of bolting the strap down (which is done on some models with the high point harness) there's nothing you can do. It's a clip, and like any clip if you hit it hard enough it will pop off.
I have no idea what your point is in the second sentence. First you're saying he didn't lead with his head, now you're saying you always lead with your head. Which one is it? He came through with both his head and his shoulder, like I said they are not mutually exclusive. I don't think it was a dirty hit, and with the receiver lowering his body position and the speed of the play there wasn't much he could have done differently, but it's not a terrible call by any means.

Don't get your panties in a wad sally, to tackle someone you have to lead with your head, but that doesn't mean that he made a tackle with his head. It must be hard to distinguish the two so here are two examples for you... (both this weekend)
they didn't lead with their heads... just so you know:
That's leading with your head, can you spot the difference? It's unfortunate that the kid was hurt, but the play was a legal hit that wasn't malicious at all. It's also kinda ironic a school that is bitching about this hit is also the one that was "playing until the echo of the whistle" when they purposely injured Danny Wuerffel in 96?

What I meant by the manufacture should find a better buckle that doesn't get unbuckled so easy. Just count how many helmets come off during a football game now. It's way too many...

Sometimes I wonder about your comprehension abilities, in fact I frequently wonder about your comprehension abilities.
Read my post again. Read the last sentence. Did I say it was a malicious hit? Did I say it was a dirty hit? Did I say he lead with his head? He came through with both the shoulder and head, there was definite helmet to helmet contact. You don't need to lead with your head for that to occur. It's not a play that would have been flagged 10 years ago, but it's a play that is pretty much a guaranteed flag today. I don't love it, but I prefer to not see guys posturing due to being knocked unconscious so I'll live with it.
And the only thing I've been at all bothered by was your absolute nonsense assertion that he should have had his chinstrap done up tighter, which you quickly back pedaled from when it became clear that you didn't have a clue what you were talking about.
What I meant by the manufacture should find a better buckle that doesn't get unbuckled so easy. Just count how many helmets come off during a football game now. It's way too many...
You put enough force on any buckle and it will pop. If you're going to make buckles that are snapped on so that helmets can easily be removed they will pop off, it's inevitable. A lot of knocked off helmets are from guys not doing up buckles, which is stupid, but that isn't at all the case here.
