Did anyone just watch that ending? What a ridiculous ending. That's the reason why boxing never gets respect. And now Mayweather threatening to beat a 70 year old guy? lol. WTF

He didn't threaten him.. he just said he didn't know **** about boxing... lol Merchant was the one who threatened him that if he was 50 years younger he would kick his ass. lololol
That said, I think Mayweather is the best villain of all sports.
Thats was brutal, Larry Merchant might be a love him or hate him abrasive guy who speaks his mind. But thats what is great about him he straight up told Mayweather "we know your a promoter but we want to talk to you as a prize fighter" then when Floyd "Im too scared for Pacquiao" Mayweather took offense and unleashed on him, Merchant says "if I was 50 years younger I would kick you ass" was AMAZING!!!!
Ortiz knows he made a mistake he acknowledged it, it was a legit win. The fact it was Mayweather who won that way just pisses people off that much more.
^ True, true, but he was getting offensive and in the guys face. Merchant surprisingly stood up to him. What disgusts me though, is that people pay for this garbage. Mayweather cheapshot Ortiz bigtime, gets between $20M-$40M just for the fight, Ortiz could have probably got up but stayed down, and both go away happy because a rematched will be rearranged. The viewer was shafted. What a joke the sport's become.
Ortiz hit Mayweather with a cheap head butt and when they came back to start the fight Mayweather knocked him the f out.
Whiners say that it was a sucker punch because Ortiz was stupidly not protecting himself but it was fair and stupid of Ortiz not Mayweather.
Not gonna argue that the Ortiz headbutt was a cheap shot, but the Mayweather sucker punch was just as cheap. I blame Joe Cortez for a terrible reffing job. The guy should really retire because he doesn't know what's going in the ring at all.
The Larry Merchant interview at the end was entertaining though. Even the usual pro Emanuel Steward was speechless of Mayweather's cheapshot. At the end of the day though, it was legal, but very dirty. It won't endear Mayweather to any new fans, that's for sure.
I agree, that was fair. What was Ortiz thinking by not protecting himself?
Mayweather is an awesome boxer.
I think Ortiz knew he didn't have much of a shot outside of a lucky punch so he was trying to be as big a personality as Floyd and showed this with the hug and kiss during the fight.
I think he was more focused there on being "silly" for lack of a better term and was focusing on what he was going to do during the restart to be showy and got caught not being ready.
Funny to see some of the fans overreactions on ESPN and in the arena when it was 100% Ortiz fault and he was the one who was dirty and a d-bag in the fight.
Joe Cortez is one of the worst refs in the business. ridiculous he still gets to ref any sort of important fight.
Well i have to admit this was by far the most entertaining fight I have ever watched of Mayweathers. He still can't even come close to the entertainment value of the Pacman.
This was the perfect outcome of 2 fighters who i both hate. Merchant is awesome. He hates Pretty Boring more than i do! awesome stuff.
I think Pretty Boring didn't mean to knock him out. he wanted to respond to the cheap shot of the head butt with a cheap shot of his own.
Too bad he hit Ortiz a little too hard.
Besides look at the post fight reaction of I-Quit Ortiz. he was happy to get his payday and not have to eat any more lead rights for the rest of the fight.
He must be the happiest KO victim in boxing history after that fight....
i hope both guys just go away. It would be way better for boxing.
Mayweather is a punk, a terrible champion and scared of Pac.
I watched a build up for this fight vs. Ortiz on TSN and I grew to hate Mayweather more. He proceeds to have a nice sit down webcam interview with some American troops (fans) somewhere unspecified in the middle east. Now this would be a decent thing to do but he quickly turns it into all about himself, thanks the troops then shows off all the things in his house, his 14 luxury cars he doesn't need, his suede walls, his trophy wife, etc. all me, me, me. Basically rubbing this in the face of people who have their life on the line for their country but are making a pittance of what he blows away.
