Horner jumped into the second with support of Ray Danyluk's riding.

It's still a shoddy system though, because first-past-the-post produces results that are not very representative of what voting expresses.

Jebus... he got a better percentage of the vote than the ruling party does in a Mexican election.

Agreed. But that doesn't make it "not democratic".

wow.
A riding to watch up here is Dave Hancock's riding. He has tremendous support and a notoriously strong organization behind him. He went to Mar.
Riding is Edmonton Whitemud. If Hancock's team delivers, it could be an enormous pick up for Mar, similar to lac la biche for Horner.

I would say that FPTP is "less democratic" than other (better) voting systems. I agree with you with respect to the PC leadership race though: we elected the PCs, and they are free to choose whoever they like as their leader.
Perhaps you could argue that the PC leadership race is a form of representative democracy and is thus "less democratic" than direct democracy (for the PC leadership race), but it's not a particularly significant gap IMO.

That one riding really skewed things... yeesh. That looks a lot like the results in the last PC leadership first ballot... With Redford or Morton being the Stelmach...

I'm a bit surprised that Orman is behind griffiths.
Orman had some big names behind his campaign...

The reporting is really pathetic. Polls closed about 2 hours ago and we have results from what....about 25 ridings? So archaic!

You should check out the newspaper results from elections in the first half of last century. Sometimes it was days before the full standings were known!
