I couldn't install 32bit in my virtual box (on my 64bit install of Windows), but as of this morning, my 64 bit is working fine.
edit: and it does appear that installing VB Guest Additions manually from cd in Windows 7 Compatibility mode, ran as administrator ( don't know if it was necessarily needed, so if someone tries it can you verify?), worked without issue.

I'm going to try this out on VMWare Fusion.
Here's a thread about it: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1826639?tstart=0
Apparently you need Workstation 8?

VirtualBox and Hyper-V Server R2 will work. Tested and confirmed.

Had a slight issue with VirutalBox with my VT-x not being enabled in BIOS, but got it installed after that, haven't played with it yet though.

Fusion 4 (released today) works, as does, I believe Workstation 8, which was also released today (I think)

Because it has the potential to offer a touch UI running on top of a full fledged OS, so you no longer have to choose between a tablet and PC, or buy both.

Curse small SSDs, I gotta clear up some space and install this on Virtual Box. What are you first impressions? Underneath the new Metro UI, is it pretty much Windows 7? Slow evolution instead of revolution?

I have it running in a Parallels VM on my Mac. It's pretty neat, but has a ways to go yet.

If you have access to a PC with a multi-touch capable screen, you'll get a much better impression of the OS than if you're like me and forced to rock a mouse/keyboard entirely.
Also, this is only a developer preview - this is barely an early beta. Don't hold this release to the same standards as, say, a release candidate.

I was in the group of people who hated the ribbon when it came into play with Office 2007. Hell, I went out and spent money to get the 'Classic Menu' add-on for a staff of over thirty people because the ribbon was such a nuisance.
Fast-forward to today, I not only like the ribbon in Office, but I like that Microsoft has implemented it in the Windows 8 Explorer too. I was not a huge fan of them hiding the File/Edit/View/etc. menu in Explorer (required pressing ALT to show it or locking it). I like it.

I find it strange that MS seems to be full-on with simplifying the UI with Metro, and all Metro apps, then they add the ribbon to Explorer, which exposes far more actions than anyone could possibly need one click away.
Other than fixing the weird decision to hide the File/Edit/View menus, what do you like about the ribbon?

It makes things easy to do - read as "Do in one click", where before you had to open a menu for any action (or use a hotkey) add in the customization and you will rarely need to move from your 'Home" Ribbon

That's fair I guess, but I'd guess that about 3/4s of the actions on the explorer ribbons will never, ever be used by the overwhelming majority of Windows 8 users.
Give me hotkeys The kind of people that need to be able to toggle the display of file extensions often enough to warrant it being present on a ribbon wouldn't be afraid to hit CTRL-ALT-E or something to do this.
Be honest. Did you ever say "Man, I really wish I could fax my selection with one click."? Or "If only I could invert my selection with one click here."?

No, but that's why the customization feature is key.
Get that crap out of there that you never need.
