Quitting Job
So I'm quitting my job at the end of the month. I've worked for the same construction company off and on for 6-8 years. Just wondering what ideas the CP-Collective has for going out with a bang. Don't really care about burning bridges, as I'm never going to work for these fools again. This company is horrible to work for. They are not even getting the priviledge of my 2 weeks notice. What'ca got?

I know they can be pricks man, but do your best to end it professionally. Once you start looking at your bank account and its getting empty quick you will horribly regret things if you don't end it professionally, get the best of them by not screwing up your future.

Yeah, I would also suggest ending it professionally. Never burn a bridge you can keep. You don't know if it might come back and bite you in the behind in the future.

How can you possibly justify not giving notice when you know you're quitting this far in advance? If the company is horrible to work for....quit....like a decent person...with notice...and class.

Worked at a restaurant when I was younger - an employee there decided to quit (gave no notice of course) by cooking up his uniform in one of the ovens and when my boss was over having dinner, he "served" it to him on a plate with a note that said he was quitting.
Total jerk move, but it was kinda funny.

If they were asses to you the whole time you worked there, burn the bridge.
-Is there a watercooler? Get your hands on some LSD and put it in.
-Deflate the bosses tires on your way out.
-Drop a rock down the vent of porta potty
-Fill the cup part of your coworkers thermos with coffee and screw the lid back on.
I need more details on what kind of construction and what materials you have access to.

They are complete asses. It's a drywall company. I work mostly with steel stud framing, but still have access to drywall, taping mud, caulking, and gas powered lifts. Plus if I do have to return from CR to work, I will go into a different line of work, so bridge burning is not that important to me. Call me a jerk, but they deserve it for the years of abuse I've taken and witnessed.

do they offer packages if you get fired? might be worthwhile to try and get some extra cash on your way out. that wasn't exactly my plan at my last job, but when i had had enough of my idiotic boss and started looking elsewhere, i told her exactly what i thought of her management "skills" during my last performance review. they ended up packaging me out with a nice payday a week before i was going to hand them my notice

I would also be in the never burn a bridge crowd, but impossible to say without knowing your experiences there.

I don't care how bad they were to work for, the fact that you stayed there for 6-8 years means you felt the compensation and treatment you received was fair.
Burning bridges is so juvenile. Seriously.

Repeating what everyone else has said, but DON'T BURN BRIDGES.
Even if you'll never work for this particular company again, there's no guarantee that someone currently working there won't be in a position to hire you or not at a different employer later in your career.
