Yeah, but some people are morans and need it explained to them.
Those people can go watch network TV. There are plenty of sitcoms with laugh tracks so you know when something is funny. And reality TV usually isn't very hard to follow either. I'm a Big Brother fan, but those diary room conversations are like the omnipotent narrator a lazy writer might use to pander to the lowest common denominator.
i think it was a total set up. the ambush, the killing, Jesse being pulled to safety by Mike, gus walking out into a spray of bullets, the Mexican meth lab story. it's all around building Jesse's loyalty, seeing if he can cook without walt...

Could be, but I doubt it since they clearly showed the guy at the rifle was the Cartel dude, so less likely. However, it wouldn't be beyond belief that even that Cartel meet was also setup.
I don't think the Cartel thing is a setup. Why would he set Mike up in a firefight when Jesse's nowhere around? Then setup another of his trucks to get hijacked?
I don't know if giving up Jesse and the blue meth recipe is what the Cartel wants but I'm not sure what Gus's strategy is. He doesn't like to work with drug addicts like Jesse but he's confiding more in him than he is in Walt. Maybe he knows that Walt wants to kill him but Jesse isn't smart enough to want that.

ya, and the guy definitely took a shot at Jesse before Mike tackled him
it's not like Gus would have planned for Jesse to freeze their, the whole send him down to mexico is likely some kind of set up

I disagree, I think we can take it at face value. They showed Gus talking to the cartel, clearly regretting it but his hand was forced - "you can tell 'them' I said 'yes.'" He was muscled into it. He tried to bluff and then he tried to fight back with Mike, but at the end of the day, Gus' operation isn't suited to a drawn out turf war, especially with Hank on his trail. Gus typically tries to win with a better product and distribution network (because he's a 'businessman'), not with violence (although he is occasionally forced into it). Clearly it wouldn't be a decision he would make lightly, but it's much better than going to jail.

These episodes have been great lately, but I just feel that Walt is being under used. I'm really hoping that we see the brilliant/badass Walter for the rest of the season. That being said, great episode tonight. Gus is now now my second favourite character on this show and I hope he sticks around for as long as possible.

That's the direction that the operation is moving in though, the guy is being phased out.
Gus = Badass squared now. Jebus. Stands up to bullets and takes out cartels on their own turf.
I liked how even though Jesse put on his tough guy hat tonight, when the bullets started flying, you still saw glimpses of that poor suburban white kid that just got caught up in the wrong crowd and doesn't really want to be doing the things he is doing.
I hope Mike is good. I think losing his character would be a big loss for the show.
I actually agree about them underutilizing Walt at this point. But I do like seeing some humility and emotion from him.
This last episode is the "Accoutrama!" for Walt. We will fully see the final spiral down for Walt. It has been a slow decent, but the windows have exploded and the cabin pressure is too much. The next episodes (this year and next) will completely destroy our love (or what is left of it) for Walt...
Being the best show EVAR!!!! created. Pure purposeful self destruction. His denouement of salty tears, and we will not like Walt's choices. We shouldn't like his choices from episode 1 but we really will not like his choices going forward...
