Default Anybody wanna help this guy?

It sounds like this was a big loss for them, and was wondering if someone might have some spare stuff they could part with?
I dont think theyll be seeing that bike and trailer again.

I didnt get any indication that he was trying to get "schmucks" to donate anything. If you read the ad there was no request for donations. He is just trying to get his bike and trailer back... wich i doubt will happen. Or maybe you think its me trying to profit?? Wrong again. Maybe everyone doesnt fit your cynical view of the world.

Bah Humbug!!
I think youre the "schmuck"...or maybe just another troll?

Because every time there is a story on the news about a kid's bike stolen, or a family that lost everything in a fire because they didn't have insurance; there is a follow up story a day or two later about how generous Calgarians came to the rescue.

I don't mind the kid getting a new bike- my thinking is that if you involve the news the story is probably legit. A Kijiji ad does not have the same credibility. While it would be nice if somebody was to help them; I would also recommend a little bit of caution.

I always get suspicious when someone uses the term low income family and then rolls out a $700.00 bike.

I agree that caution and even suspicion are needed regarding these kind of posts, but his tone in the ad is one of anger, and frustration, and that he just wants his stuff back. Nowhere does he hint that he wants hand outs. Yes the bike is a nice one, but the trailer not so much.

For me nothing seems fishy about the ad, but obviously some disagree. Anyways...arguing about it isnt going to change your minds.

Limited income doesn't mean you can't afford things, it just means you can't afford them again if they go missing/broken. Look at all those broke hipsters/peter12's with Mac Book/shoes.

The advertisement isn't looking for someone to buy him a new bike, just that if anyone sees or heard about this one that was stolen, to return it. It's not asking for a hand out.

Maybe the Ad isn't legit, but I don't get that.

The ad could be legit.

But, think for a moment. You post said ad knowing full well that some people will feel sympathy and think hey, I'm gonna help this person out. The suspicion is justified, unfortunately.

His half decent bike got ripped off and he doesn't make a lot of money. Why are you yapping about his money management? Kind of a jackass comment, no? Like, are you saying that people shouldn't buy anything until they can afford two of them, just in case the one gets stolen?

You mean other than the multi-sentence lament about being low income and bike riding being the only joy he can supply in his children's meagre existence, right?

Maybe the guy saved for a long time to buy that bike.

I'd be more suspicious if he had a brand new Chariot, those are like $10,000 bucks!
