That Place is Still Open?
In the wake of the announcement that Blockbuster is closing it's doors in Canada, I started to think about other businesses that I am continually amazed to see still open.
RadioShack (Source by Circuit City)
How in the hell have these guys stayed in business. They are a random mishmash of $5 electronics parts, RC cars, off brand electronics and digital clocks. They don't seem to have any competitive advantage. They don't compete on price, quality, selection, expertise...nothing. I think my whole befuddlement was accurately smmarized in this Onion article.

HMV
Has anyone been in an HMV lately? It's like a flea market in there! They sell some books, plush toys, candy and of course the near extinct CD. I'm surprised they have held on this long.
Anyways, what are some of the shops you guys walk by and say, "That Place is Still Open?"

They've also gotten horribly over priced. $15-17 for a plate of pasta that is made much better and cheaper elsewhere. Why do people still go here when there's choice!

With the proliferation of porn online, I am very surprised that any adult video stores are open any longer. Do they have a lot more than videos there? Accessories like roofies, zip tie handcuffs and strap ons?

re: cherry blossoms
They're probably just hanging around on shelves from the '70s. Doubt they've made them since any of us were born (not including vlad, of course).

Also drove through Regina a few weeks back and was surprised to see they have a "Bonanza's" still open there.

Kids love it there, and probably decide to go there more than the parents.

Hallmark or Carlton card shops - I can't believe there is a market out there for two major greeting card franchises.
I'm surprised they haven't merged à la Chapters/Indigo/Coles.
