“Nike Kicks” blogger Matt Halfhill said he was called by Nike at midnight Wednesday and flown to Los Angeles. There he found a box that contained a message from Dr. Emmett Brown (“If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some serious [bleep]!”) and metal shield glasses. There was also a goodie-bag of “Back to the Future” products.
To add to the hype, the company released a teaser video called, “McFly’s Closet,” showing rows and rows of the kicks.

When Nike gives you a call at midnight, you know it’s something good. With just a few hours notice Nike flew me out to LA for “a big announcement.” When they won’t tell you what it is until you get there, you know it’s something bigger than a new colorway of Dunks.
Upon arriving in the room, I found a box waiting for me with an iPod Shuffle with a personal message from Dr. Emmett Brown: “Welcome to Los Angeles. If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some SERIOUS SH*T!”
Inside the box was an invite from to “IT’S ABOUT TIME…an unveiling that could change the course of time” as well as metal shield glasses.
The table of goodies that included mid 80′s candy, Throwback Pepsi (forumla from 1985), and a copy of Back To The Future all but confirmed the suspicions. About a year ago we shared with you these documents of the Marty McFly Nike Air Mag shoes registered with the US Patent Office.
It looks like we’re getting closer to 2015 than we thought!
I'm sure these will be 500$ per or something ridiculous but I'd def want a pair! I remember being stoked about my pumps in the mid 90's. Kids these days have everything *grumble grumble get off my lawn*

Okay, stupid question from a guy who knows nothing about and cares nothing about shoes.
For the rumoured $500 or $1,000, are the laces actually going to tighten themselves? Otherwise thats a stupidly insane amount of money. For shoes at any rate.

From the sounds of it, yes. The price isn't just about the technology though, I'd be surprised if they released more than 1000 pairs.

I'm still stoked about my Pump re-issues.

I watched a documentary on just how big sneaker collecting is, and what big business it is. 500-1000 really isn't that much for a pair of limited edition shoes actually.
There are people who will buy several pairs of each new model (or models they like or are popular) and then put them aside for 10-15 years so they can have a pair of brand new 'retro' sneakers down the road.
Oh and another pair to remain undisturbed for collection.
Nike will be producing 1500 pairs of the new Nike Air Mag. They will all be auctioned off on EBay with all of the proceeds going to the Michael J Fox foundation. Incredibly respectable. I can see them going for $10k a pair easy.

What was it called? A quick search of ebay shows some shoes selling for just under 10k. Insanity
