What is the difference between this and "driving without due care and attention"?
Could they add "daydreaming" to the distracted driving legislation so that if a driver is sitting at an advance green and hasn't taken their foot off the brake after 3 seconds they get a ticket?

I'd prefer that a landmine enbeded in the intersection that can be remotely set off.

I might just take you up on that offer depending on what else I can find that is reasonable.

What I wonder is, does the act of driving make somebody want to start texting or making phone calls or unfolding a map? I often see the driver doing all of these things, while the passenger is just sitting there do nothing useful at all.
Now I know that kids can't drive, but they know how to text and talk on the phone.

It just makes me want to kill people when I calm right down and stay behind someone because it's kind of a waste of gas and effort and aggression to overtake when someone is going a mere 2 or 4kph under the limit. But, I just keep driving behind stupid moron in the gold Dodge Ram on 14th st NB at 230, and he SOMEHOW keeps going slower and slower and s l o w e r ... Until I get pissed off and pin it by him - lo and behold, he's looking at his fracking phone and laughing his head off. Ooh! Well, as long as it was a funny email that's causing you to go 55 in a 70, I suppose I'll just relax.
Maybe not.
I just want people to die in fires. Car fires. Car fires that start after distracted drivers crash into telephone poles and their stupid cars explode and kill them.

I agree with this. I never get honked at and today I got honked at 5 times.

Alright, I'm a little late to the party here so I'm sure my question has been asked already so I apologize.
But anyway, I'm always in a rush in the morning, so I make my PB&J toast, dash out the door, then eat it while I'm driving to work.
Would this merit me getting a ticket?

I make my passenger text/call/give directions which seems to be the most reasonable thing to do

I think its impossible to know. If its a "snack" then you're seemingly OK, but if its a meal then you get a ticket. I think the lesson here is that you can still eat things like this and you can go through a drive-thru, but clearly don't order a combo!

I agree with the law so long as it applies to everybody. That includes police officers that are constantly looking at their laptop or talking on their radio while driving. This is also distracted driving. If there are exceptions then.....

You want to restrict emergency services' ability to do their job?

These guys need these tools to do their job. You don't need to be texting or checking email while driving.

The part I agree with is cops using their laptops. I'll let them slide on using the phone or what ever, but when I see a cop doing 80 and his head is turned and he is on his laptop for 2 minutes, 1 hand on the wheel and OCCASIONALLY looks at the road, then I get upset. Surely if you're taking 2 minutes on your laptop you can just pull over and do it.
Doing your job is one thing, but that is even worse than me on my phone, when you got your head cranked and your looking at your computer.

The laptop is their lifeline. They receive info on calls, they run your tags when following you, etc. Pulling over and stopping isn't a possibility.
