Just reading the stats line on that Holland game.
San Marino keeper allowed 11 goals, made 5 saves.
Not one save made by Holland, not one shot on target.
San Marino didnt earn a single Corner Kick.
Possession 70/30 Holland.
Thats a pretty thorough ass-kicking. I dont think I've ever seen anything like that.

I forgot all about that! I do tend to forget San Marino's football woes rather frequently.
And I suppose I shouldnt be so hard on Portugal, Italy only managed to beat the Faroe Islands 1-0. Theres a national team in serious trouble.

Does UEFA really have to allow San Marino, Malta etc to play with the big boys? Can't they have a "B" Pool?

Locke, I love how you were bashing Portugal earlier in the day saying they were struggling with cyprus despite the fact that you more than likely didn't watch a minute of the game. Portugal was never struggling with Cyprus. Cyprus never threatened goal. Not once. Portugal was always in control and it was a matter of time before they opened up the score line, they just did it late.
They hit a post, Cyprus' keeper made a few saves on half breakaways, Portugal dominated the game as they should have. But you find a way to try and rip on them despite your comment having ZERO merit.
And your comment about the Dutch and comparing their result to POrtugal's was silly as well. Holland are better than Portugal and San Marino are WAY worse than Cyprus. San Marino are by far the worst of the European minnows. But because Portugal didn't win 11-0, they must have struggled today. Right.

its the only way some get better, and they make a lot of money from it from some of the travelling fans (english, spanish, italian etc.) who go to almost every game

So, what you're saying there is that they were struggling to score against Cyprus? Which is exactly what I was saying...
Yeah, sorry, I watched the England game, the Germany game and bits of the Holland game, I just didnt have time for Portugal too. I did see the penalty and then the almost immediate subsequent free kick for Cyprus right outside the Portuguese box.
That being said, Portugal eventually beating a 10 man Cyprus isnt all that convincing. But hey, 3 points is 3 points.

But you didn't say "struggling to score", you said "Portugal are struggling against Cyprus". And there was no truth to that whatsoever. They were never in danger of not getting full points in this one.
Believe me, I'm not trying to make a big deal out of beating a Cyprus team. They needed to get it done, they were supposed to get it done and they did. They weren't great by any stretch, but given what transpired behind the scenes the last couple of days, you might understand. 3 points is 3 points, tops in group. 2 games left, one at home to Iceland, one away to Denmark. They should win this group, and probably will.

Yes because these countries need the big boys to come to their home park to generate interest and attendance. Or else nobody would go and these teams would dissolve.

Dirty cheating Czech ********.
What a gong show to finish this one. There was zero contact for the Czech penalty that tied the game - just a terrible terrible decision. Moments later Scotland booked for a dive (looking for a penalty).
With that said I am off to the Highland Games - gonna be a bunch of angry people there I am sure!

So is the integrity of the players...makes it so difficult for the refs.

maybe but I'm on the other side. The poor quality of the refs has allowed players to dive for fouls. Give out some yellow and red cards and the players will stop.

I'll take it eventhough I don't like it either. With being said the Czechs were deserving of the tie. They completely outplayed the Scots in Glasgow and should have been awarded a penalty early in the first half.
There is still hope for the Scots. All is not lost yet. A win against lithuainia puts them 2 points behind the Czechs.

Just totally lucked out. Although I was due for some luck after traveling to London for the canceled England-Holland game.
Barely made it to Florence today with all of Italy's transit going on strike at 9am. And totally lucked out finding out that Italy was playing Slovenia tonight (while looking for a place to watch England-Wales), in Florence, when they barely ever play there. Managed to scoop up a ticket for my first international game!
