So - anyone want to confess that they got a ticket yet? See anyone get a ticket? Give anyone a ticket?
Not yet. Saw many people on cell phones on the drive in. Im sure the several spot checks are going to be increased and priorty number one for Calgary's finest.
I have a feeling people will be on their best behavior for the first week or so and not many tickets will be given... then they'll return to bad habits and we'll really see the effect of this law.

So what is everyone using for the handsfree set? Any suggestions.
I bought the Jabra Cruiser 2 at FS for $100.
Pretty happy with it so far. I hated the idea of having to wear an in the ear variety so I opted for this type that fits over your sun visor. Has the added benefit of pumping your call through to your stereo along with music on your phone. Not sure how often I'll use that part but it does it's primary job well. Good call clarity.
In the Calgary herald they mentioned a few people were pulled over for warnings. One of them was drinking coffee which I thought was okay. Guy must have been shot gunning it.

I'm the same way. I really don't like wearing an earpiece to make a call.
I have not tried the email and sms features yet, but the voice commands work pretty well.
What kind of phone are you using with yours? The voice commands on my phone are a little hit/miss but I have a first generation Android phone, it doesnt have a ton of jam. I'd really like one of the new Android phones.
Spend $10 and get the full version of Vlingo. It is wicked.
On a side note, watched a officer in a ghost car on 37th ave enjoy a conversation on his cell phone. Are they exempt? I tried to get a picture but figured if he saw me I would get the ticket.

So I'm driving out to a shoot with a friend of mine and he needs to make a call. So what does he do? Parks directly under the stop sign to make his call. lol I felt like saying, "You almost got it buddy!"
Driving back to the office after a lunch meeting / presentation about the new distracted driving law........... and some @sshole almost runs me off the road because he's on his phone.
Hmmmm. this probably belongs in the WRGMGs thread

Law enforcement are exempt.

I spoke with a cop last night at Dennys just after midnight, and he said that if he saw someone hitting the pad of a GPS it's a judgement call. "if you're texting, doing your make up and all sorts of stuff, yes, I will pull you over. But I don't think it's a big deal if your just hitting a button on a mounted GPS".
Take it for what it's worth. I've found that most cops are just decent regular people and if you treat them as such you get back what you put in. He's right too in my opinion... I don't see how hitting a button on a GPS that's mounted is any different than changing the volume on the radio or turning on the AC.
