After living in St. Albert for the last 10 years I have had to endure all kinds of Oiler-tainted broadcasters on the Team 1260 and 630 Ched. Bryn was very good; he was professional, knowledgable and fair in interviews and wasn't a full time homer. On the other hand, Jake Daniels made my ears bleed, he was the definition of a "homer" and liked to say or do anything to suck up to oiler faithfull and piss off everyone else. Jake would ask stupid questions for shock value. I was not disssapointed when Jake was let go, but was very dissapointed when Bryn was turfed and replaced with Dustin Neilson and Kyle Chase. hope he does well on the Fan 960.

Another St. Albert guy here...Bryn was good on the Team but the morning show was basically un-listenable due to Jake Daniels. It will be interesting to see what Bryn can bring to the table on the fan.

I believe there's some method to the madness of hiring someone from a different city. I think you get a lot better, less biased coverage compared to if you hire fans of the home team.

Or is it more of a promotion almost? He's basically the new Boomer and doesn't have to work the late hours anymore.

Steinberg told me on twitter he is still doing overtime. I thought Bryn was the pre and post game host, Pat stays on after the hot stove lounge and takes calls to all hours of the morning.

Pat will also be doing about 15-20 post-game shows plus overtime this season.

You don't get a lesser bias, you simply get a different bias.
I've no problem with hiring out of towners, even Edmontonians. I mean hell, Rob Kerr did a great job. But there should be balance. I'm not asking for a Jim Hughsonesque homer to be added (that would actually be annoying as hell), but it would be nice if some of the on-air talent were Flames/Stamps/Roughnecks fans for a reason other than the fact that they are paid to be so.

As long as we have the opportunity to call him late at night and yell at him about things he has nothing to do with, I'm fine with the changes.

I have known Bryn for years. He has been in the broadcast game for a long time. I think he will be a mentor for Pat.From what I understand Pat will be doing all the overtime segments.Be thankful you did'nt get Dan Tencer.Bryn is very good at interviewing. The flame fans will like Bryn.

Me too. Love both of their passion and knowledge of every sport. First and formost they represent Calgary very well. We got lucky with Kerr coming from Edmonchuck and quickly adopting his new love for all things Calgary. Can we get lucky again I hope so. I am truly ABE & ABV & anything Riders so I hope the Fan960 remains (mostly) about Calgary sports for Calgary fans.
Best of luck to Bryn Griffiths sure he will be decent. Going out on a limb and going to say he is Welsh or his parents were.

As long as the guy is a good interviewer, that is all that matters! He will most likely become a Flames fan after ahwile. Pun intended!

The fan has hired a very good broadcaster and talented man. No ego and good person. Wow. What a step up. Good for the Fan to hire a real mature talent and team player..........

Why do I feel there is a thinly veiled criticism there at someone else?
