That's the problem when you have a guy with two pitches. He just can't get guys out the 2nd or 3rd time around. Alvarez needs a 3rd pitch otherwise he's going to be our closer.

Really enjoy watching this team, young exciting, some great up and coming kids. But, looking at this Rotation after Romero...Cecil suffers a bit with not having good enough velocity to fool hitters with his good breaking stuff, Morrow can't put 2 starts together back-back, I'm happy to watch these kids in the rotation work things out, but to contend, we may need 2 starters to make a run, nm a ton of bullpen help.

The jays need at least one of those 2 workhorses to be a real frontlne starter too which won't be easy to get. Am expecting them to take a big run at Yu Darvish but he is going to cost obscene money.

I could see teams like the Yankees and Sox being scared off by Darvish, given their history with Japanese Free Agent pitchers.

However, Darvish looks like the real deal.

His stats are better than Matsuzaka's. His 2009 / 2010 stats ave been nothing short of amazing - 1.78 and 1.73 ERAs - Matsuzaka had a 2.12 ERA one year and that was his "blip" on the radar.

The team needs to move Adam Lind and JP Arencibia while they have high value.

Definitely. Could possibly offer the pair of them + a prospect or two to the Brewers for Grienke (They're likely to trade him)

Not sure about Grienke. When was the last time an AL pitcher went to the NL and struggled? I think if he comes back to the AL, he could get rocked.

Same here, I just know that the Brewers are going to need a 1B, and possibly a catcher (not sure) so I threw out the first thing that I could think of.

I just don't know if there's anything other than a pitcher that we could acquire with Lind/Arencibia.

So we'll get a time machine go back and get Lind from 2009 and move him?

Really though I'd rather keep JP for another year at least until we see if D'Arnaud replicates his excellent year. Catchers with JP's power don't grow on tree's he's valuable even if he never has a high AVG/OBP.

Maybe sign Fielder in the offseason and then offer to trade Lind to the Brewers (since they'd be needing a 1B and all). But I agree with the above, the Jays pitching (apart from Romero) just hasn't been good enough (Not that that should be a surprise... you can't trade guys like Halliday and Marcum and expect the pitching not to suffer). The Jays really need to pick up a legit top half of the rotation starting Pitcher I like Cecil as a #4 or #5 guy but when he's your #3 you have issues. The bullpen doesn't bother me, RP aren't a rare commodity maybe splurg on a lefty but the rest of the Pen is easily replaceable internally and on the open market for relatively cheap. Darvish would be money... that guy just has filthy filthy stuff.

Grienke hasn't struggled though. I guess if you base everything on ERA, but in front of a defense like that ERA loses a lot of its already questionable value.

Grienke has an absolutely ridiculous 5.16 K:BB ratio and is striking out guys at a rate of 10.89 K/9. Those are closer type numbers from a workhorse starter. A combination of bad luck and bad defense might bring down his ERA but Grienke has been dominant this year.

Another failure of a start by Morrow. I hate games against the Rays.

Also another complete and utter failure by the Blue Jay batters, notwithstanding how good Price was.

Was listening to Price on MLB Radio this morning, credited his start yesterday to the wind, and was saying that he has never had that type of movement on his two-seam fastball. Kind of an interesting note.

Jays aren't close enough to being contenders to make a deal like. They're still at least one more season away.

Why are they likely to trade him?

They have the division by the horns if they re-sign Fielder and have built a team based on solid pitching. Seems odd that would trade their top pitcher for a few never-willbes and a couple of likely wont-bes.
