My first child was going to be named Kale but then it was a girl. Maybe next time. I was never a big fam of Cale Hulse as a flame but liked the name.

My name was influenced by hockey, although not after a particular player. My name is the French Canadian version of my father's Croatian name and was a popular name for French Canadian hockey players in the 1970s and 80s (less so today). When my parents came to Canada, they assumed that it was the Canadian version even though we lived in English Canada.

I know a guy who is supposedly an Oilers fan, but named his two sons Rhett (after Warrener) and Sutter (after Darryl).

I am named after Mike Bossy.
I get that Michael/Mike is a pretty common name but my parents were stuck on a few different names, and then I was born May 1980 and Mike Bossy/The Islanders/My dad being a huge Islanders fan from their founding all the way through these more recent lean years all kind of sealed the deal.
It was never a secret or downplayed either, it was very clear I was named after him my entire life.

My Dad was a fan of the Montreal Canadians. He wanted to call me Maurice Pierre. So glad he didn't win that one. My parents came to an agreement of Robert.

One of my cousin's and her husband (big Oiler fan) named their son Garyn (Bill Geurin was playing there). In the end Bill got traded shortly after Garyn was born.
