Come On Irene
So anyone else caught in the path of this thing?
A solid chunk of Manhattan is evacuating (first mandatory evacuation in NY ever), and the subway's are being shut down starting noon tomorrow.....not necessarily surprised about that as the subways go tits up even when it rains normal.
I got out of dodge to Long Island today, but am supposed to be heading out on my honeymoon Sunday....we planned on a roadtrip up the east coast of New England, and it looks like we might have this skank escorting us for a while. I don't have indoor parking for my car in Long Island, so at the moment, I found a hotel in New Hampshire with a garage that it looks like we're going to ride it out in.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of looking forward to the footage myself. What I'm not looking forward to is the transit clusterfata it might cause aftewards....

All the news stations have been building up Irene for a couple of days now. If it fizzles out I'll be disappointed which is a backwards way of thinking.

Pat Robertson heard of a crack in the Washington monument, he claimed it was a sign from god that America was losing its moral way.
Can't WAIT to hear what he calls this hurricane.

An Asian Guy goes to see his eye doctor because he’s been having vision problems. After the examination, the doctor says, “Well sir, I found your problem — you have a cataract.”
The man says, “Must be some mistake, doctor — I drive a Rincoln.”

Ha, that's the hope. I tried to find something far enough inland so it's not affected by a storm surge.

best of luck. can't even imagine what a hurricane atmosphere would be like. My niece works in manhattan and lives somewhere close... My brother also has a beach house off the coast of NJ. I hope both are safe. Not just cause of family, but i also want to use that beach house some day =D

I'm pumped for it. Tonight should be business as usual, but I've loaded up with 30+ beers, a couple bottles of whiskey and a bunch of beef jerky for tomorrow night and sunday. Which in a way means tomorrow and sunday will be business as usual too.
I'm not looking forward to the aftermath on my patio though, expecting to be clearing some pretty substantial debris, and odds are I'll be out of beer and whiskey by then too.

After watching how New Yorkers re-acted to a measly 5.8 - this weekend should be interesting ( I kid - NY is my favorite city in the world - that day was the only day Californiians could consider themselves tougher than New Yorkers)
Stay inside, get drunk, and be safe!!!

When I read the title, I read it in the musical stylings of Dexy's midnight runners, and then sang then next bar "Sit on my face"
Then I realized this thread was about a hurricane and felt bad.

I honestly didn't see anyone bat an eye over the quake, people were like 'what was that' and then 15 minutes later it was business as usual.
Definitely taking your advice though, should be entertaining at least.

My Mom lives in Daniel Island, SC...near Charleston. Thankfully, they are not going to take a direct hit but I am sure they evacuated to higher ground while this thing passes.
Good luck to everyone in the way!
