At least that means we can put those stupid Favre to Indy rumours to bed. Can't wait for 2 weeks when a season finally starts Favre-free...I hope.

The Colts will only go as far as Manning takes them, and if he's out for an extended period of time you can pretty much hand the AFC South to the Texans. Also Manning now has the longest active starting streak in the NFL so it would be too bad if that ended too.

I realize quite succinctly what you said, and here it is again...
Quote:
He won't have influence in the room unless he's producing, and if he's producing any negative influence is likely acceptable.

So the negative influence will be acceptable in Miami where it has not "worked" elsewhere in his career...as long as he is producing? Right?
Yet he also produced in other cities (very very well in KC for example) and was quickly booted because of his attitude in the locker room and off field antics.
But because it's Miami ( thats the only variable here other than his amount of carries) he will be OK?
That's how I am am reading what you said...and i think its fools gold to believe that or the fish goggles are extremely thick in this case. One of the two anyhow.

Funny how he wasn't an issue in 2005 and 2006 when he was putting up big numbers isn't it? And look at that, once his production started to struggle and his carries were cut he became a locker room issue. Weird isn't it? If he's not producing he won't be there. If he is producing any negatives he brings are outweighed. It's not a complicated equation.

Any chance the AFC South is even worse than the AFC West this year? I honestly think if any of the four teams can go 9-7 they might have a shot at winning the division.
Looking at Indy's schedule they start off in Houston, then Cleveland at home, host the Steelers for week three, then are in Tampa for the Monday nighter for week 4. With Peyton's health uncertain they could easily start the year off 1-3, and will be lucky to get 9 wins for the season (they also are on the road at New England, New Orleans, and Baltimore).

I highly doubt it, they may have a worse record, but I'd take the Colts or Texans over any AFC West team. And also, do you think a team would rather play the Colts or Chiefs in the playoffs?

It is when you are involved...even though it has no reason to be.
At any rate...i will concede that LJ will or will not produce and he will or will not cause drama depending on his productivity and Miami will be the same or not as last year.

Agree with this - screens are where he can really show some of his open field ability.

That's because Johnson physically wasn't the same after those years. Even than he had off field issues. But teams overlook those if the guy is playing at a pro bowl level. We're 5 years removed from those days at the position where age creeps up on you faster than any other in team sports. Not to mention some guys will never be able to adapt to that lesser role after being the man. LT can do it Marcus Allen could do it. Larry Johnson can't. dolphins should have stayed clear of this goof.

Roster cuts will be taking place later this month. Aug. 30th when the roster will go to 80. Initially, Aug 30th was suppose to mark the day when teams reduce the rosters to a maximum of 75 players, but the league office made that change earlier this week. Sep. 3rd marks the day where final cuts are made.

And that's what I'm saying, if he plays well the off field isn't an issue. If he doesn't the guy is a third stringer with no sway in the locker room, assuming he's not cut outright. I don't think he'll perform, and I don't think it's a good signing, but the negative aspect is being dramatically over stated.

Here's some good news for the 81,000 fans on the waiting list for Green Bay Packers season tickets: The team plans to add about 6,600 new seats at Lambeau Field in time for the 2013 season.
And here's a nugget Wisconsin taxpayers will like, too: The Packers plan to fund the $130 million project at their expense, perhaps through another stock sale that would give even more fans the chance to be a part-owner of one of the NFL's most storied franchises.

Agree Johnson has been signed to be 3rd and if he lucky 2nd string behind Bush. Reggie still has yet to fully prove he can be effective running between the OT this is his chance. The KS rookie Thomas likely gets the 2nd string job. Johnson I don't think will effect the locker room. He will just be another player playing back up.

reggie Wayne is no fan of the Colts signing Kerry Collins as insurance against Manning not being ready.

Strange thing to say when he may be the guy that will be throwing balls to Wayne and crew.

There was an article the other day saying how difficult it is for the Colts to sign backup QBs because no one wants to sit behind Peyton. The "good" QBs they have approached want to go other places where they have some opportunity, not be stuck behind the reigning NFL ironman.
