Yeah, Safeway is definitively more expensive on the day-to-day items. But if you get the sales (and their is always lots) it evens out or comes out cheaper.
I don't mind paying a little more at Safeway, I find their shelves are always stocked, the stores are clean, and the line ups aren't ever too crazy.

T&T is about as likely to pass horse meat as beef as Superstore would since they're owned by the same company.
And I've never seen a filthy T&T store.

I am intrugued, but I didn't see these at the Okotoks Costco; which section are they in - prepared foods or frozen stuff?

I buy my pop at the superstore liquor store, I have heard it can be more expensive than the main store but I can usually park close to the door

You obviously haven't had the pleasure of shopping at the safeway on 12th and 8th SW, bar none the longest lineups in the city. Last time I was in I timed it for my personal entertainment, 25 minutes from lining up to walking out with my groceries.

I buy mine in a mix of costco, sobeys, walmart and giant tiger, giant tiger has usually the healthy choice bowls on sale for $3 (regular is like 3.47) compared to sobeys where they are $5.
I somewhat shop around since I am cheap.

They are in the frozen food section. Sometimes they are hard to come by though. My girlfriend went to Deerfoot Meadows costco and they were sold out, she then went to the Costco in the northwest and grabbed the last bag just before another lady.

The only place that was passing off horse meat as beef was the old Jay's Supermarket which is no longer around I believe.
T&T is not filthy at all and is very clean. And i'm not sure what kind of smell you're referring to, the seafood department will smell fishy, the spices aisle will smell spicy, the area where all the bread is will smell like bread, and the place where they sell all the herbs will smell like herbs.

T&T also has a pretty wide variety of frozen dumpling and such. Sometimes they have english cooking directions, too.

Co-op/Superstore/Costco/Sunterra - depends where in the city I am at. Co-op usually has their decent 10/$10 sales and bread is pretty cheap. Sunterra is nice for the eclectic type stuff that you can't find at other places (cheddar, bacon, and potato perogies).
What's worthwhile at Sobeys?

I like the No Frills in Airdrie (other than checkout, where my wife develops a compulsion to turn packing the boxes they have for packing up the groceries into a perfect game of tetris)

Sobey’s says they have new lower prices now
Anyone that shop there regularly find this to be true or not really?

I like the Sunterra Deli. The regular groceries there are too expensive though.

is Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in Calgary?
Calgary could use a specialty or high end grocery store. Loved Dubaji's for their bakery and deli when it was in Northland Mall. Sunterra might be the closest now

They have way more sale items then they used to. Some decent sale prices too.
