I am not bitching. I like the idea of another bridge. All my complaints have been about the award of the welding sub-contracting to Spain.

To us inner city residents, massive ego projects are among the most useful. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm posting this from my mobile apple product while in line to order a highly complex and customized hot drink. Hmph.

Yeah, it's a pretty cool project.

According to recent census data, the only communities with densities significantly higher than new suburbs are as follows: Downtown, West End, Connaught, Victoria Park, Erlton, Bankview. If you live in these communities, enjoy your bridge and have a free latte on me. Everyone else: STFU, you live in sprawl too.

I live in Sunnyside and I can honestly say I don't live in sprawl.

I live in dalhousie and I dont even consider myself in sprawl. I used to until I took a trip up to panorama to see a friend and down to new brighton to pick up an item from kijiji. That's sprawl.

Me too. Now 100% of the last two posters agree that McKenzie Towne is not an example of sprawl. I'd say that's enough to consider it fact.

Nenshi said the bridge was in the wrong place.
Good enough for me.

The funny thing is, I probably live in a higher density home than many people who are railing against sprawl because they live closer to downtown.

They definitly don't spare any inches in this community. I drove a 5 ton truck with my stuff in it, went to turn down one of the roads that leads to my street, and because there was a truck and a van parked on the side of the road across from eachother, I had to back the truck back out onto the main road and drive another way in.
I've already been warned about what winters are like here, too. I'm told, once the snow settles in, each raod basically just has one set of tracks to get in and out with, and if you slip off the track, it's a 50/50 chance you're going to be taken into a parked car.
It would be the perfect community, if everyhing was doubled in size.

I live in New Brighton but have a condo in Mckenzie Towne can I jump on the there is no way we are considered a sprawl band wagon?
If you want sprawl how about those free loader Copperfieldians who don't even pay community fees sucking away all of our tax dollars!

Don't even get me started on Copperfieldians. They are THE definition of sprawl. I can't believe us "townies" have to deal with those parasites who use our lake side (pond) path , our Church (a Mac's with a church like tower above it) and national historic sites (broken archway thingy that was made to look like national historic site).
If it were up to me, I'd set up a toll booth for out of "townies" on our round a boot.
