Been toying in The Photoshop with tilt shift "effects", I think I'll have to go out some time and get specific shots that would work for this... anywho, first attempt.
Even if it didn't turn out great, I like this shot of this memorial being constructed.

If you like fake tilt-shift, check out this group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1297586@N20/. There's some really good examples in there and the bad examples are filtered out.

Thanks. Just used http://tiltshiftmaker.com/ .
TS lenses are a tad too expensive for such a niche section of photography.
It's all in the angle of the original subject, the higher the angle the better.
Some people just TS random things and flat subjects and it just doesn't work.

This is how I feel about my first attempt, it was an image I had saved, and couldn't sleep, so wanted to try something new. It turned out better then I thought... but still a lot of work to do!
Posted it here for the help and advice I knew I'd get!

There is still a light decline towards the subject. The rocks, monument and workers are the focal point and it works well.

That's amazing clarity for a 1/4 second exposure, hand-held. You must have steady hands. Mine would look like it'd been taken through a kaleidoscope lens.

I've got hundreds to go through, and I'll do it later tonight, but a few of Backlund at the WildRose Hockey Challenge yesterday in Cochrane. Also got lots of TJ Brodie, JD Watt, MacMillan, Kennedy etc etc. I'll post tonight. Light was horrible.

Some recent things . . . . .
Climbing with Ruby on the weekend . . . .
A dead-eyed young lass shows up armed and ready for the Rooster Crowing competition at the 104th Annual Priddis & Millarville Fair . . . .
And speaking of Roosters, Reggie arrives amid much fanfaire for his raffle draw at the Fair . . . . about 1,200 tickets were sold and a little old lady was surprised she had not only a ticket but also the winning one. Her hubby had bought it as a lark and put her name on it, then kept it a secret from her. A rural farm family, they took delivery of the eight foot tall, 400 lb Reggie this week, foregoing the the other two choices they could have taken, a 1978 Chevy 3/4 ton farm truck that had been sitting in a field for five years but still runs or a $2,500 donation by the Ag Society to breast cancer research. The Rooster would have been far and away the first choice among the majority buying tickets with the truck second.
Pie-eating contest at the Fair . . . . a blind feeder, a blind eater and a third person telling them where to shove the spoon. Much mayhem.
