These Legends are pretty underwhelming. I was expecting guys like Orr and Howe along with Gretzky and Lemieux. Chelios and Roenick are just kinda meh

everything about the game is underwhelming:
1) new big features -> no
2) major refinements to old features (ie. GM mode fixes like ability to sign rfa/ufa before the offseason, enhancements like those seen in madden, etc) -> no
3) game play enhancements (stick, skating, puck physics, ability to enhance the defenceman experience) -> no
heck even the legends, which seems like a bit of a useless function, aren't elite for the most part.
naturally, i'm still stuck getting the game, but really wish there was competition in hockey video games again, as i think i'd be willing to take a break and try the 2k series if it showed improvements.

See, I feel like the opposite here. They've added a ton of new stuff;
-Realtime physics; you skate into someone, and it actually causes a player to player interaction. This allows hits to take out multiple people, causes you to actually bump off the net instead of gliding around it, Sedins can no longer lay out Chara, etc.
-Brand new sim engine, and ability to jump into a game anytime (not just 1/2/3/5 min to go). The action tracker looks great!
-Be a GM tweaks to trading, rookie salary and growth
-Anticipation AI, meaning players will actually anticipate play and not stand around in the offensive zone.
I'll have to see it, but should these all actually work as intended, this is a huge upgrade from NHL 11. Especially the sim engine.

Realtime physics are intriguing, but this being an introductory year I would think it will probably be pretty buggy. The new sim engine is, again, intriguing. I like the action tracker and whatnot, but I don't want to sit around for 20 minutes watching a game simulate itself. I guess we will see exactly how it is implemented, and it will be nice that if I have a superior team I don't constantly lose to teams with one decent line and a 78 overall goaltender.
Contracts, trading, and rookie growth are tweaked every year, and they still haven't gotten it right. Same goes for AI. I'm not buying their promises any longer, and I'll wait to see the finished product. If Be A GM is as stale as it was this past season, I have no real reason to purchase the game. Be A Pro was something I always wanted in this series, and after 2 (?) years being in the game it is incredibly boring and underwhelming. If all they add is a few new coach tasks and 4 years in the CHL then that is a failure IMO. They also need to make the bonuses and attribute boosts unlockable online or offline. Right now, unless I play online (which I never have) I have to purchase about half of the unlockables. Unacceptable.
If they actually sell the game $10 cheaper than last year, as is currently advertised, that will be a good start I guess.

I'm looking forward to the new goalie system.
It was disaster last year...

Makarov was pretty much unstoppable one season, you couldn't check him off the puck. He had Fleury and Gilmour as linemates
I don't know how many times I had to listen to the Beatles - Birthday from the stick of Makarov

I wonder how many HUT games I will lose this year, with only one goalie in my net?

Lafontaine and Mogilny were unstoppable for the Sabres in NHL circa 94/95. And also, every time I used the Minnesota North Stars, Ulf Dahlen would light it up.

My face is a bum!

NHL 96: Lindros slappers from the top of the circle and Lemieux backhands were unstoppable.
NHL 93: Absolutely Roenick. All Roenick.

Last year was the introductory year for the physics engine I believe, it was the first time they used a physics based engine instead of an animation based engine for player interactions and it was very bugging, the biggest peeve for me being sticks and pucks going through defensemen and goalie legs, if they clean up the engine and fix the problems along with adding dynamic goalies, it could be a huge improvement.

puck, stick, skating physics needs dire attention. watching the gameplay vids released for nhl 12, lead me to believe, we'll have to wait till these major parts of the game are enhanced/fixed.

Having just started playing Be a GM for the first time I really love this game mode. Hopefully it is improved in NHL 12 though. My team is pretty stacked. First line is Ovy-Crosby-Iggy and second line is Hall-Stamkos-Duchene.
