If you could attend any past sports event what would it be
Listening to the fan960 this morning into work and they had a fun topic. That reminds me of past sports conversations with friends/family while camping or at the bar.
These would be mine.
Game 4 1970 St Louis. Bobby Orr scores the SC winning goal in OT and goes flying into history! Orr would be named the Conn Smythe winner as well. Voted the number 1 sports moment of all time by North American sports writers!
Game 6 1989 in Montreal. Lanny McDonald comes out of the Penalty box and scores on a partial breakaway which would be his last NHL goal. The Calgary Flames in game 6 would become the only team to beat Montreal for the SC Cup on Montreal Ice!
Atlanta 1996 Donovan Baily would shock the world setting a new Olympic and World Record time winning the 100m Gold Medal and then later would help the 4x100m Canada relay team to beat the USA on American soil. Baily's 9.84 would not be broken until 2008!
1984 Superbowl XVIII Los Angeles. Marcus Allen of the LA Raiders would set 2 superbowl records the longest run in a superbowl on a broken play for a 74 yd TD and 209 total yds. The Raiders would crush the Redskins 38-9. Al Davis afterwards would give the the famous "Just Win Baby" speech!
Game 5 2004 in Boston. The NY Yankees having been up 3-0 in the series. Now going into game 5 the Red Sox winning game 4 are down 2 runs in the 8th with 2 out, they score 2 to runs to force extra innings. Boston would win a 5hr epic game in the 14th. The crowd would celebrate with "who's your Papi" chant to the NY fans. Ortiz becomes a Boston hero. Boston would later win the series in NY in 7 and then the 2004 world series vs St. Loius!
2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul - Liverpool down 3-0 at half time, dead and buried, but come back in the second half to tie it up 3-3 and then go on to win on penalties.

1958 - MUFC draw Red Star Belgrade 3-3 in what was MUFC's last game before their plan crashes in Munich killing eight players and forcing two into retirement due to injury. The crash killed 23 people in total.
1962 - Wilt Chamberlain drops 100! points in a single game.
1966 - World Cup Final. England wins its only World Cup to date.
1972 - Summit Series. Canada's historic victory over the Soviets. Henderson!
1975 - Thrilla in Manilla. Muhammed Ali defeats Joe Frazier via 14th round TKO.
1989 - Stanley Cup Finals (all games)
1992 - World Series. Toronto wins its first of back-to-back championships.
1997 - Tiger Woods runs away with the Masters, winning by 12 strokes.
2010 - Olympic Men's ice hockey gold medal game. Canada defeats USA in overtime, winning gold on home soil.

Some good ones listed already, I'm trying to pick ones which haven't already been said (Flames aside, that's a given), as there's some listed above that would've otherwise made this list.
2009 Super Bowl, South Florida, Saints vs. Colts. Worst part was my aunt & uncle somehow got tix for this and gave them away, but gave them to their daughter & her now fiance. Understandable, but I would've killed them both for those. It crossed my mind.
2004 Stanley Cup Playoffs- Any of the 3 series clincher games for us. Game 7 Van would be awesome to see live us finally (FINALLY!) end our 15 year 1st round hex. Game 6 Detroit - Eliminator - the loudest I think the Dome was for that entire playoff run. And game 6 SJ - to see the mini-trophy celebration & know we're off to the Finals.
1986 Smythe Division Finals, game 7, Flames @ Oilers: Steve Smith own goal, only time from 83-88 the Oilers didn't advance to the Finals, and 86 was statistically their (and Gretzky's too) best year. Flames slay the dragon in their own building, beautiful.
2001 World Series, Yankees vs. Dbacks. Game 4 or 5. To date, best WS I've ever seen. In the Bronx, the Yankees come back in the 9th inning in both games on closer Byung-Hyun Kim on dingers, Paul O'Neill in game 4, and Scott Brosius in game 5 with 2 outs. Game 7 in Phoenix would be great too, with Dbacks down in bottom of the 9th facing the greatest closer in MLB history...and somehow winning. Great series.
1993 World Series: Game 6, Philadelphia @ Toronto: the Joe Carter blast, at home. Can't imagine how electric it'd be like there live. 92 would be amazing too, being the first title. But it didn't have the finish of the 2nd one, plus they didn't clinch at home, so I gave the edge to 93.
And just to be a jackass...
Game 7, 2006 Stanley Cup Finals, Oilers @ Canes & Game 7, 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, Bruins @ Canucks. Just so I could laugh, and laugh, and laugh...
I could go on and on but I'll stop here. Multiple summer & winter Oly moments that have already been said, especially Donovan Bailey.

First one that actually comes to mind is 1936 Olympics in Berlin. I'd love to see the Jesse Owens races and see Hitler's reaction first-hand. Although if one could carry a sniper rifle back in your time machine, that would probably the responsible thing to do.

One thing that bothers me about those Olys is that during the opening ceremonies when the Canadian athletes passing Hitler all gave him the "heil, Hitler" sign. Though to be fair, lots of countries were doing it (though not all, the Americans never did it), and we did start making up for it 3 years later.
EDIT: Just watching a clip of the '36 Opening Ceremonies, its got a very unsettling vibe to it. Weird how every country looks like they're marching, almost looks like they're military. 1993 Joe Carter walk off world series home run. Easy the sporting memory that gives me the most chills just thinking about. Lived in Toronto when it happened, would have died to have been in the building.
If I could only choose one it would have to be the 2006 World Cup Semi-Final Italy vs Germany.
For a game that was 0-0 until the last minutes of extra time it was just a classic game. I would have loved to be in Germany for that game where the home fans were just devastated by the Fabio Grosso goal late in extra time.
Never in my life have I seen an Italian team play as attacking as they did in that extra time. They had pretty much 4 strikers on the pitch (Totti, Del Piero, Iaquinta, Gilardino) and had Grosso, Zambrotta, and Pirlo attacking at any chance. They did not want to risk going to penalties in another major tournament.
2006 AFC Championship game Colts vs. Patriots with the 18 point comeback and the 4th quarter pick by Marlin Jackson on Tom Brady to seal the win. That was just amazing to watch (as a Colts fan finally seeing Manning exercise his Brady/Belichick playoff demons)
2006 World Cup Italy vs. Germany Semi-final
2010 Gold Medal Game Canada vs. USA
Not a huge baseball fan but Game 7 Rays vs. Red Sox in the 2008 ALCS (seeing my team make it to their first ever World Series even though the got crushed by the Phillies)
The longest Tennis Game in history between Isner and Mahut would have been fun too
