Free Agency Site
Just looking for any insight of how much and how little the site may have been used so that I can weigh it's value for next season. This was something quick I put together a month or so ago. A rough outline was sent to grant at the time and I never touched it again till the night before Free Agency... A lot of what you see is variations of idea's I've used many times.
I was able to have the site updated within the hour of me receiving the results, so I don't think time was a factor in slowing down the process.
Every player signed through the FA process was in the database with the exception of Buffalo's signing of Rickard Wallin
__________________________
Some of the things I was curious about
Did you as a GM use the player bio's to make your decisions on players you were bidding on or did you just use the list that Grant provided before every round?
Was it useful to have a list of other FA's that were available in each position to base future rounds with?
Did anyone pay any attentions to last seasons salary that was on each player?
Was there something missing that could have been useful if this was to happen again next year?
And last, if you didn't use the site (other then to check if you signed a player) please say so. If 90% of the GM's didn't use the site thats cool. It makes it easier to cater to the 10% that do in regards to what is added and subtracted next year
thanks

BTW highest amount of dollars handed out was by the Ducks for Dan Cleary for a total of 12.09M. Tampa's Ray Whitney was second during the 2nd Batch with 10.77M

I really enjoyed the site.
- It was very useful. It really narrowed down which free agents were worth bidding on.
- It was nice to know what the players contract was last season but I don't know if it was necessary.
- Something missing that would be awesome to have next year was their OVR rating.

I thought it was fantastic. I really liked the way you categorized everything. It made it simple to find and the site design is easy on the eyes.
If it's possible to add ratings, that would be my only suggestion. For myself, I just used the spreadsheets with the new ratings but if it was all in one place, that would be great. However, I have no idea how hard/easy to would be to do something like that.
That fact that you went out of your way to do the page, especially with the problems you have with your eyes, is more appreciated than we can mention.

I thought the website was fantastic and you did a great job. Then factor in your situation and you did... Fantabulous. Great job, I personally did not use the previous salary as a marker or even look at it but perhaps I should have given then I missed on a lot of guys.
Also I think OV if added could be a great thing but again not neccesary.
Also I am pretty sure I spent the most on an offer. 17 M on stud mark striet lol but no worries if there isn't a cap award involved, give it to ravi. Lol
Again the website was a great addition and ufa was more awesome due to the site. Thank you.

The top left hand of the players bio that list their position "was" meant to be for their OV rating. I ducked out of it because I wasn't sure how much work was involved in what amount of time. As it turns out, looking back, it could easily been added

Thankfully a majority of the work was done in a short period of time when my vision was at a peak (a peak for me, roughly 20/200). If I didn't do it then (just before the awards) then this wouldn't have happened. I got an steroid injections just a week before the first batch and was able to finish off everything.
Good thing too, because now that the outline is there, saving adding the bio's till after the UFA resigning period is over is actually easier then doing everything along the way (like I planed on doing). Looking back, not being able to update saved me a lot of work in the end.

The two most time consuming task I had with putting this together was 1> locating last years salary 2. copy/pasting the age WT HT. Which are little things not necessarily needed. I think the Age over Previous Salary if it would be changed

Correct, hopefully he retires and then I'm correct with saying Cleary

sorry bout that if it caused extra work in what way was he not in the database (just curious?), I saw him listed on your site under available centres and he had a ranking in Grant's spreadsheet (I think???)
I thought the site was excellent, I didn't feel I need anything else, thanks

I loved it, very easy to read and understand. I suggest next time awarding the Jackets a couple additional players at discounted prices. That's all.

I thought you did a great job Doug!
Personally I didn't find any use with the salaries for the previous year so if you didn't want to spend time on that in the future it wouldn't bother me.
I liked knowing who was left and coming up in the next batches and found that useful.
I appreciated that it was updated so quickly, thanks for doing this!

This site was awesome. It was all I used through the whole free agency. Made life very simple for everyone.
I never looked at last years salary.
I don't really think having the overalls added is that important. Makes us do some homework.
Thanks Doug!

Doug, the website was fantastic. You did a great job collecting as much information as possible so it really made it easy for me.
The one thing I personally would have loved to have the OVR rating up there as a reference beside their face as well, that would have been really helpful.
Either way, great work. I know I used it extensively, made the whole Free Agent process that much smoother.
