I loved it when he was trying to take his batting helmet off, but was struggling with it. Then he throws it down and bounces off the ground and hits EE. EE was laughing so hard as were most of his teammates.

That was a great all around moment, exciting play and the celebration was gold. Hopefully Lawrie doesn't see any chin music next AB, pitchers these days are pretty touchy about excess celebration.

Lawrie had to slow down after he passed first because he was ready to run right pass anyone in front of him.

Celebration in the dugout was classic and great to see, especially moving forward when this Jay team is serious about contending.

I'm an A's fan, but damn that was exciting to watch. That is what sports is all about. Loved his enthusiam and just seeing him so jacked up was a real treat to watch even against my favorite team. Good on him and I hope he continues to hit the ball well. Definetly have a soft spot for the Jays considering I watch them everyday. Really hope they can start competing against the Sox and Yanks.

It's hard for me to temper my excitement for Brett Lawrie. This is his fifth game and he already has a grand slam?

I think if that was Bautista, Lind or anyone else for that matter then you go after them next at bat. The pitcher/team should realize who it was and let him have that moment one time. If it happens again in the future then you take exception to the excessive celebrating.

Also I find it funny when all the benches clear on something that clearly wasn't going to result in anything. Also find it funny that the byllpens clear too.

The jays signed 17th rounder RHP brady dragmire today.

There should be a few more getting announced today from what I've heard, so I'll hold off posting the whole list again.

Interesting watching Mills since he's come up - he's got a great change which seems to be a Jays staff hallmark lately and spots the fastball real well, kind of reminds me of Jimmy Key the way he's going back and forth from one side of the plate to the other with it. Curveball could use some work though control wise.

Its really too bad for us A's fans that they couldn't hit anything until after the allstar break.

Aaron Hill is pretty much a shell of his former self. It's unfortuante since he use to be my favorite player. There was a time I would take him over Cano, boy have times changed... It's time to cut the ties between the too, since Hill won't succeed with Dwayne Murphy as his hitting coach. "If you ain't good for homers, you ain't good for nothing!!!".

Also star prospect Adeiny Hechavarria has been called up to AAA.

The Blue Jays are unlikely to sign first rounder Tyler Beede, a right-handed high school pitcher out of Massachussets and the 21st overall pick, who will honor his commitment to Vanderbilt, a source tells Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com.
The risks I guess that goes along with selecting high end talent with a "tough signability". Too bad if true, however, it was a swing-and-miss type pick. Stupid school

Strange, considering that he's been rumoured to have a deal for a long time. We'll find out on Monday for sure.

The pick is protected though so they'll still get a pick next year if he decides to be stubborn.

It seems like both Jim Callis and Keith Law are saying that it's not nearly that dire, and that Law thinks it's just to avoid an investigation into the rumours of a pre draft deal.
