Agree with Kermitology... both Matt Kearney's "Young Love" and the Teadybears album are both in high rotation for me lately. This summer has seemed a little weak for releases... perhaps it's just the season or perhaps it's me getting old and out of touch.

I always tend to check on metacritic on Tuesday's for new releases, and indeed it's been a weak summer IMO as well.

Watch The Throne is really, really good. I don't think it's as good as either of their best solo work (College Dropout/MBTDF/Black/The Blueprint), but it's a really solid album.

My only complaint is that it feels like a Kanye album with a bunch of Jay-Z guest spots, but I think that is the result of Kanye being the producer. Jay is such a slick rapper though, he is so good.

"Who Gon Stop Me", "Made In America" and "#####s in Paris" are the definite highlights for me

Mike Peters (The Alarm) will now front Big Country.

http://www.bigcountry.co.uk/news/articleRead.php?id=300

Big Country have been announced at six major UK/Irish festivals - Isle of Wight, T in the Park, Oxygen in Dublin, V festival (Chelmsford & Stafford) & Inverness with Simple Minds.

Legendary producer Steve Lillywhite who produced Big Country's finest work from the 80s including their first and second albums (The Crossing & Steeltown) will be back producing the bands first single in over 12 years. Steve remarked "when I heard the demo of their new song I was impressed on first listen. I am looking forward to working with the band again whom I last worked with in the 80s on one of my favourite albums I have ever produced - 'The Crossing'".

“ It will be a real buzz working with Steve again, he is a producer we all have a great regard for and are looking forward to working with again”. "We'd also like to thank all the festival promoters for having faith in us". says Tony Butler.

The band will also soon announce a series of smaller dates where they will be "breaking in" new songs for a future release. "These will be places we have never played before, giving us the chance to work in new songs in the more intimate type of venues” adds Mark Brzezicki.

"Due to the success of the January and April tours, the band have decided to continue and have already started planning for a new album and a 30th anniversary tour in the new year" says Mike Peters.

Bruce Watson comments, "we are 100% dedicated and intent on making this new line up a permanent one. We can finally look forward to completing unfinished business from the past, particularly internationally, and look to a creative and active future".

The new Chili Peppers album is now streaming on Itunes. I'm a few songs into it now and it's pretty good. Maybe not as good as their older stuff, but still decent.

With a barrage of planned new releases, Mark Sultan embodies the word "prolific." First off, the Canadian garage-rocker (also known as the "BBQ" half of the King Khan & BBQ Show) has two new LPs on the way. Whatever I Want and Whenever I Want are set to arrive in a limited color vinyl run this October on In the Red. A CD called Whatever/Whenever, culling tracks from both, will follow. Among the collaborators on the albums are members of Black Lips and the Gories.

One of the most underrated bands, The Parlor Mob, have their second album due on Oct 11. They released 4 songs off of it for now on their website:

Highly recommended. They get better as you listen more...

The fall music preview

http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2011/09/02/18633116.html

The better news: There's a bumper crop of cool offerings this year, from studio albums by Wilco and Tom Waits to a Metallica-Lou Reed collaboration and the Mick Jagger-Dave Stewart-Joss Stone supergroup SuperHeavy.

The worse news: As of now, that list doesn't include Rush's Clockwork Angels, a new Van Halen-David Lee Roth album, ZZ Top's long-awaited disc with Rick Rubin, No Doubt's much-anticipated return and Dr. Dre's endlessly delayed Detox.

Lindsey Buckingham
Seeds We Sow The Fleetwood Mac singer-guitarist goes his own way again. Can you blame him?

Wild Flag
Wild Flag Two-thirds of Sleater-Kinney + one part Helium + one part Minders = indie-rock supergroup

Tom Waits
Bad As Me More grim reapers and grand weepers from the king of the hobos. It doesn't get better than this.

I didn't notice this posted on first glance, but Coldplay will be releasing their fifth album titled Mylo Xyloto in late October.

Man, I really hope they do some songs about L.A./California. That would be really fresh.

Seems this is an exclusive pre-release on Rdio. I quite enjoyed it for electro-pop.

Wild Flag (S/T) getting some "album of the year" buzz. Can kick myself for missing them at Sled Island:
