He did follow Bruce Lee and failed miserably in the 80s. Remember The Big Brawl? What a disaster. Now he's gotten a 2nd chance to play goofy sidekicks behind Chris Tucker and Owen Wilson, blah.

Bruce Lee was a leading man, top billing actor. Does anyone even know anyone else in a Bruce Lee movie. And his movie were popular worldwide, everyone knew him from Asia, to Europe, to America. A true international star in the 70s.

What about that guy that was drafted by the Flames in the 80's and like two weeks later got wrecked in that car accident?

This is laughable sorry. Tupac was the best rapper when he died, and unless something drastic would have happened in his career like going to jail for a very long time he would still be the best rapper today. No one has come even close to excelling in the rap game since his death. 50 cent would probably be his biggest competition and he'd blow him out of the water.

Nirvana was/is extremely influential and Nevermind was a "gamechanger" type album.

They were probably the most important band of that musical era.

Yep, it's true. I consider that a shame as I'm not a big fan at all, but I can't deny the influence.

yeah Jackie was a failure.... He made like $60 million for Rush Hour 2. hahaha. I wish i was a failure like him.

Not a fan of Bruce Lee at all. Drunken Master 2 is prob the best kung fu movie of all time.

Speaking of goofy sidekicks, who was that in the original Green Hornet series? hehehe

Ernie Davis could have had a legendary NFL career had he not gotten cancer prior to his rookie season. Michel Briere looked like a really nice player for the Penguins but was killed in an accident after his rookie year. In baseball I remember Lyman Bostock as a real up and coming superstar who was senselessly murdered during his fourth season with the Angels. Hard to call these guys overrated because they died before they really got started.

I don't think he is selling Tupac short but he does have a point.

Tupac and B.I.G. are two of the best rappers of all time but due to the circumstances of their deaths they are bigger stars due to their deaths then they probably would have been if they were still alive. Especially since their deaths were "related" to their fued it made the music they were making about one another seem even more important in retrospect.

It usually happens that over time rappers start to lose their edge and that takes its toll on their work. Once you become rich and famous you can't really rap about the hardships you faced in the ghetto anymore and you just start to rap about money and women.

Tupac and B.I.G. most likely would have went down this path much like Ice Cube, Dre, Snoop, Puff, and the rest of the rappers from that generation did. Much like the Bobby Orr debate they benefited because we never witnessed their decline like we did with the other rappers.

And in no way is 50 Cent the closest modern competition to Tupac, he had a great debut album but everything since then has been mediocre.

Love him or hate him Eminem, and probably Jay-Z, are really the only ones who have excelled over a long period of time rapping and even they had to reinvent themselves a couple of times to stay relevant and had periods where they struggled.

The thing I'll say about Nirvana is that, considering the level of musical talent Dave Grohl has shown himself to have, I think it's totally reasonable to believe the group would have continued to put out top-flight music for at least a few more albums.

Also, anyone who includes 50 Cent in an argument about "best rappers" has no credibility.

How is that laughable? Tupac came out with more albums dead then alive. The only thing I would argue that suffered was his acting career.

Charlie Parker. Amazing musician with an almost unmatched influence in the history of jazz, despite recording for only 10 about ten years, prior to his death at 35. I'm not sure he would have done a great deal more had he lived longer - his most innovative stuff was done between the age of 25 and 30 - but he was already considered one of the most important jazz musicians during his lifetime, and his legacy since then has confirmed his importance.

R F Kennedy. If he wasn't shot while running for President, the Usa and the world would probably be a far better place today.

you know Tinordi, I know we disagree on a lot of things, but I have to say, that you and I can't be any more opposite when it comes to Jim Morrison.

The guy was creative, brilliant, gifted, was a great lead singer, was the rare lead singer that could truly incite a crowd, and in terms of his lyric's there aren't many artists out there that even come close.

People might think nowdays that his death elevated his reputation, nut Morrison and the doors were absolutely huge and utterly respected for their artist abilities.
