Good to know. I'm glad we don't have agents, a friend of mine is in the OHL and he says it's a disaster.

If I recall, during te agents era the 3 year deal wasn't mandatory either so you could sign your iffy guy to a 1 year deal and he'd be gone te following year.

The agency system was also flawed because of the human factor. Some GMs were getting steals on deals for high end players while others were paying max dollars. The agents we had did their best but it just didn't work.
Prior to agents we had a system where each team could protect one or two UFAs and the rest hit the market automatically.
RFAs were done with negotiations between the GMs and the league - it was very hard to manage. An offer sheet system also in place that allowed other GMs to bid - but it created a lot of hard feelings.

Nah I quit after winning the cup, I just don't see myself having the time for 2 leagues going forward with baby on the way.
It was a very easy decision to pick the CPHL over the OHL when deciding which was going to be my one league. That league is just not fun, too many restrictive rules and old GMs not willing to make changes so that good GMs have fun and want to stick around.
Hopefully things change over there.
The OHL experience has definately made me much more appreciative of the CPHL.

Thanks for that. A lot of work has gone into this league to make it really fun - starting with the original work done by Cheese, Darren and Cam and then carrying forward with myself, Jeff and KG adding our own input.
Other sites may have fancier web sites or other things but I think our "game play" is superior.

A lot of hard feelings and a lot of work I imagine. I'm glad it's changed. Currently, there are very few things I would change.

Our site isn't bad Grant, in fact it's incredibly functional compared to some. I don't care if it's fancy, it works well.

I'll process contracts today. Batch 2 will go up tonight or tomorrow.
A few other comments:
- One team had all their offers voided as they failed to provide a total of the contracts and the amount of cap space available. They would not have won a player anyways.
- Another team missed the deadline so their offer didn't count.
Since this is all open bid we have to be VERY strict in enforcing rules.

If a team believes they offered a better contract than a winning one they should PM me immediately.

Other facts and interesting notes
- Detroit signed the most players. 4 dmen all for the same contract
- The player attracting the most interest was Brad Boyes who received 8 different offers.
- The players attracting the least interest were Brian Boucher and more shocking...Tim Connolly who get just one offer.
- The big winner is Dwayne Roloson who received a max deal for 9.99. He also had the biggest spread between the winning offer and the next highest at 5.69.
- The closest race was for Brett Johnson where two teams offered 1.5, but Florida had a longer term.

Figures, the guy I wanted most and offered the most of my 12 offers was the guy nobody wanted.... I guess no sense putting him on the trade market, it seems I would have been the only one that would have traded for him

I actually suspect it was the opposite. Everyone figured he would be the big ticket guy - so they just stayed away from him altogether. I think it is one of the best value signings that was made. If had him pegged for 8 million plus.
