I believe in the Jays.

Maybe Samuel could play FS. He obviously has the ball skills, not entirely sure if he has the size or not.

Who might the Eagles need to beat if they want to get to the Superbowl? New Orleans, Green Bay maybe? Those teams love to throw the ball, so I think it makes a lot of sense to keep Samuel in the mix given who they need to beat to make the Superbowl. Not to mention a higher powered offence like the Eagles is likely going to result in opposing teams trying to throw to play catch up.

I agree with what you and RC are saying but I would rather have depth at safety or a safety to begin with than three probowl coners. Two of which are not very physical. I like Allen and Coleman but I would like to spread the wealth a bit. Still get the sense that samuel is moved, perhaps to the Jets?
Don't get me wrong I absolutely love all three players I just have a hard time seeing how it works. Bar none that has to be the best collection of talent at corner in the history of football.

Peyton Manning turned down 5 years, $100 M from President Jim Irsay. He wants less then that so they can re-sign players like Addai and Charlie Johnson as well as get a new deal done for Robert Mathis (who is a UFA after the season).

So now you throw underneath and watch 3 Cb's that couldn't tackle if their lives were on the line.

Samuel at FS is a disaster because as mentioned he may be the one CB in the league that makes Dion look like a tough guy. 0 tackling ability makes Philly a dream come play-off time.

More than if they play nickel all the time or not....which guy are you sitting for 75% of your downs?
Nnamdi plays one side only....so you are having to choose between RC and Samuel as watching from the sidelines until 3rd down and only when it is an obvious passing situation. Now if they can convert one of those two to SS and he is effective, then they may have an option to get all of them on the field at once. That seems awfully risky though as the 2 positions are very different and can take a good long while to learn and understand where to be.

Asomugha is actually a very good tackler. The other 2 not so much.

Yup...and if he had signed with a 3-4 scheme, he would have been a guy in the Charles Woodson mold who can line up anywhere and really disrupt offenses....and made the NA acquisition a lot more sensible IMO.
The reason the Packers were so stingy on D last year was for much the same reason...with the emergence and domination of Tramon Williams on one side and the complete epiphony that Sam Shields became later in the season, Woodson was free to line up all over the place and really make life difficult on opposing offenses, which ultimately led to some critical sacks or turnovers during their run. Dom Capers is a flippin D genius and in a way re-invented the wheel a bit.

Too bad brittle bones Stafford and the Lions won't be anywhere near them come playoff time.

Historically, uder JJ, the Eagles would play nickel on much more than 25% of their plays. I have no idea what the defense will look like under Castillo but all the talk has been to play smaller and faster. I think you'll see DRC and Asomugha playing the majority of downs with Samuel being the guy to come in and get turnovers. I think the move also makes sense from a depth perspective. The Eagles think they have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl this year and Reid isn't risking his secondary being a problem on account of injury.

Too soon to know with Johnson, as camp is in it's infancy with a bunch of the unrestricted guys still not able to practice.

What's your beef with Plaxico? I actually have a lot of sympathy for the guy even before he signed with the Jets. He did definitely do something stupid, but he also got screwed by the mayor and a DA looking to make a name for himself. No way a normal person gets that sentence with his record.

The charge he was indicted on carried a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years. He plead to a lesser charge to reduce that sentence. Bloomberg has no need to make a name for himself, and the DA at the time had been in the position for two decades.

He's an off-field disaster and has been for most of his career. I have little sympathy for him but I'm also glad he's getting another chance.
