Odd trade from the Cardinals perspective as it appears you give up a bunch of meh relievers to get back meh relievers.
Would have preferred to go for more of a one for one deal than a poo-poo platter but again good to get Rasmus out of the clubhouse.
Also Passan should realize it is not just an issue with La Russa.

Out of that deal, Trever Miller supposedly goes to the White Sox to complete the trade.

I am not going to belabor the point because I understand that AA is looked at as a god by Jays fans but he didn't give up nothing.

Rasmus is 2 months older than Desmond Jennings who was called up 6 days ago
I know he must have been frustrating as a Cards fan because he hasn't lived up to his billing but he has as much natural talent as anyone, and I have never heard this Rasmus=clubhouse cancer before
most baseball people have ripped the way La Russa has handled him
for the Blue Jays going forward the next 3 years they can really compete
Snider/Rasmus/Bautista
Lawrie/Escobar/Hill/Lind
Arencibia
Hill is the weak link and Arencibia possibly next year or the year after should be upgraded with D'arnaud
that's a very strong, and young team

That's a great deal.. those pitchers going to St. Louis are garbage. Blue Jays have blown what? 20 saves this year from those guys?
Cards might be sick of Rasmus but they have to get more than that!

Do you follow the Cardinals enough that you would have heard about this?
Not really frustrated with how he turned out because it is what many guys like him do turn out like. Baseball prospects are tough to project.
The guy has been a jerk from his younger days through the minors and carried it into the majors. He is young enough to change but based on his act in the Cardinals clubhouse didn't seem like he was going to do it there and he doesn't have enough talent to justify his poor attitude.

Well its pretty darn close to nothing from a Blue Jays perspective. The only guys the we gave up who had any sort of a future with the Jays are Stewart and Rzepczynski.

Just a heads up, it's not just Jays fans who think highly of AA, it's the rest of the baseball world too. AA's found a way to transform the Jays farm system into one of the best in baseball and after the Lawrie, Gose, Wells and Escobar trade, the guy has more then earned this reputation going forward.

moon, Escobar was considered a jerk too, and has been nothing but a positive since coming to the Jays for nothing (well except having to watch Jo-Jo Reyes for 5/8 of a season)
Jim Bowden is chatting on ESPN and says Jays absolutely stole Rasmus.

The sandwich picks which AA was lauded for getting last off-season also play into it.
I think what the Cardinals got back was weak but including Stewart to the White Sox adds to what the Jays gave up.

there's been stuff about how him and La Russa haven't gotten along, but most of that I have read has been blamed on La Russa (who has had problems with a ton of players)

I never said he was a bad GM but the he can do no wrong stuff that comes from the TO media and some Jays fans gets pretty tiresome for a guy that hasn't proven anything yet.

Which is why I said earlier that perhaps he can change the attitude outside of St. Louis.

I have said I think the return is poor for the Cardinals all since the start of the trade discussions.
I think the Cards get an F and the Jays a B that could turn into a A if Rasmus turns into a better teammate.
Maybe an F is harsh as I give them credit for getting him off the team. So the Cards get a D cause they should have got quality not quantity for him.

Stewart is ranked high as a prospect, but many are not sold that he misses enough bats, judging only from the small sample we got this year, those people seem right. Nothing wrong with a ground ball pitcher, but they rarely become aces.

Following message boards and having heard from two players in the Cards system it was more than just La Russa who had a problem.
La Russa is an easy target for mainstream media guys to place the blame on as he isn't exactly the most media friendly guy out there.

Keith Law and BA both said it would be 1-2 right now with Tampa
I think Law had it in the 20's 2 years ago
