Nice, like the price. Also good to see they stuck with 16:10, was worried when the rest of their new monitors were 16:9 ()

Dell just announced the successor to the U2410 today.

$399, IPS, 1920x1200.

I can't wait for this thing to appear on a dell's day of deals. Maybe get it as a 2nd monitor for $300 next to my U2410.
8 ms response time. My U2410 is obsolete.

Interesting monitor but it does appear it's not an 8-bit panel, that it's a 6-bit panel and uses dithering like a TN panel to produce the 16.7million colours. But I'll wait until TFT Central reviews it to see if it's worth considering.

Could be good though, sRGB panel so no high gamut annoyances.

The linked article says it is high gamut.

Well it says it supports a wide gamut with 82% coverage, I had to look up what that meant, 82% of CIE 1976. The U2410 supports 110% of CIE 1976 (whatever CIE 1976 is, supposedly all the colours the human eye can see or something).

16.7 million colours for the U2412M vs 1.07 billion for the U2410, and the specs for the U2412M don't mention any industry standard colour spaces at all.

It's not a high gamut monitor like most, but because it dithers I guess it could emulate high gamut by mapping a wider range of colours into 16.7 million colours.. you'd think the specs would mention that though.
