30 minute rain delay - jinxed it - he wasn't as sharp after the delay. Boy the Mariners are a sad squad right now - 17 straight loses

Wow! Anyone see the end of the Braves vs Pirates game? Blown call by the ump at home in the bottom of the 19th. Somebody just wanted to go home I think.

Here it is from a bazillion angles

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?c_...ic_id=11493214

The home plate ump isn't really in a position to see if there was a tag or not. Couldn't he get help from the 3rd base ump? Even Chip Carey, the most biased announcer in sports, couldn't defend that one! At least he didn't say 'fisted'.

Awful way to end a long game.

^ Wow. That wasn't even close. That ump should be suspended the rest of the season for that stupid call. Crazy.

Between that and the Jays getting screwed in Boston, I'd say it is a safe bet that at the very least, replay of plays at the plate will be added for next year.

You can tell just from the reactions of the catcher and the runner that both of them knew that it was a clear tag. If the catcher had any doubt in his mind that it wasn't a tag, he doesn't wave his glove up in the air, he tries to tag the runner again. The runner seems all surprised at the call too, touching home plate again, just in case.

That game had everything. From the 8-year old girl who screamed "Let's go Pirates" from at least the 12th inning onward and then was shocked that the game was over, to Scott Proctor doing a face plant on the winning RBI to cup guy.

Ervin Santana just tossed a no hitter in Cleveland. Angels win 3-1 (wild pitch in the first scored the only walk given up by Santana)

LOL, Phil hughes can't even beat the M's. Seattle finally wins, ending their 17 game skid.

Only had two baserunners, error in the first (ended up scoring), and a walk in the eighth. Only 105 pitches. 10 strikeouts.

A walk and an error away from a perfect game (a wild pitch wouldn't have mattered had the player not been on base due to the error)

Between him and Jeter my middle infield has been pretty unproductive for HR, TB and RBI this year.
Well, the Redsox offense has continued to produce well into July, they have 16 games with 10 or more runs. And the one guy who you wanted to start producing for you is the one who's stepped up the most:

Pedroia's blast over the Green Monster extended his career-high hitting streak to 24, the longest in the American League this year. With his two hits later in the game, he sits at .406 (where have we seen that number before?) during the surge. Pedroia is hitting .423 (41-for-97) in July, .682 (15-for-22) against lefties in the month and he has reached base in a career-high 36 straight games.

No doubt Pedrioa's been destroia'n pitchers since I posted that. I suppose my next wish is for Buchholz to get healthy. Also for Adrian Gonzalez for forget hitting for average and start knocking out some jacks. A man can't ask for too much can he?

Ha! Well Bucholz threw on Monday, and was supposed to throw again yesterday but had it cancelled and he's going to see another specialist about his back, but from what I've read this isn't expected to delay his return much further though. And with Lester coming off the DL on Monday the pitching might finally be coming together, even Jon Lackey has four straight wins!!!!!!!!

As for Gonzalez, my fantasy team would like for him to start hitting jacks too, including today he's gone 66 at bats without a homer, but he's got two hits so far.
