I don't know the detail of the 1993 fire sale.. sounds like inept management.
I'd argue the exact opposite....they would have ended up trading Carter and Alomar too in that fire sale too. The only thing that could have prevented that was a World Series calibre team and the Padres those years didn't have the pitching to even come close. Most fire sale's aren't inept management...it's usually ownership ordering it to go down.

Really if you look at the deal it was Fred McGriff in his prime and an aging Tony Fernandez for Alomar coming into his prime, and Joe Carter who was also aging. Carter had just come off a year hitting only 24 home runs and somehow managed 115 RBI with a sub 700 OPS. Carter bounced back and probably benefitted from Toronto's lineup and the SkyDome, and Alomar was as good or better than Gillick thought he'd be in his projections.

Yeah, if the Jays didn't win game 2 of that series I don't think they would have won that year. But given how they'd been labelled as chokers for so many years going into the 92 playoffs, the Alomar home run seemingly changed everything. After that you had guys like a washed up Kelly Gruber and the unknown Ed Sprague knocking out clutch home runs, and Mr.May himself Dave Winfield delivering the winning hit in the 92 series.

Ledezma's lefty Fastball topping out at 95 MPH. Not bad.

Patterson needs to go. Can't hit, and can't play in the field.

Apparently a guy who's broken several trades for the White Sox a day or two early is saying that the Jays have Acquired Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen for Jason Frasor and an unnamed prospect.

Teahen and Jackson make about 10 mil between them, Jackson is a free agent at the end of the year, Teahen makes 5 mil next year.

Apparently the cards were wanting Jackson. Maybe we could add something for Rasmus who they're currently shopping.

If that were the case I would hope Jackson would be a tiny part of the deal and the added piece would be the main reason for the trade.

Probably would be a 1/3rd part. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next couple days.

There's some links in the various pages to the deals that the guy broke prior to posting this one.

It'll be interesting to see if that is actually accurate.

A bit of an unusual time to break a signing at 1 AM, but the Jays have signed supplemental 1st rounder Jacob Anderson for ten thousand dollars short of a million bucks.

I've also added a couple additional players that have given strong indications that they're not going to sign.

Hopefully now that a 1st rounder was signed that it'll start knocking the dominoes down and you'll see Beede, Comer, Norris, Smith and a few other of the good ones sign shortly.

Pitcher

Kevin Comer - 1st Supplemental round - (High School) - Rumoured signing
Daniel Norris - 2nd round - (High School)
Jeremy Gabryszwski - 2nd round - (High School) - Signed
John Stilson - 3rd round - (College)
Thomas Robson - 4th round - ?
Anthony Chin - 5th round - (High School)
Anthony DeSclafani - 6th round - ?
Mark Biggs - 8th round - (High School)
Andrew Suarez - 9th round - (High School)
Aaron Garza - 10th round - (High School)
Nicolas Wiper - 14th round - (High School)
Cody Glen - 15th round - (High School) - Apparently has committed to college, not going to sign
Brady Dragmire - 17th round - ?
Luke Weaver - 19th round - (High School)
Joel Seddon - 20th round - (High School) - Turned down 1 million, likely not to sign
Aaron Nola - 22nd round - (High School)
Jerrick Suiter - 35th round - (High School)
Chris Cox - 39th round - Strange situation as he can hold out and then sign as a free agent with any team. Would take a lot to sign him.
Jake Eliopoulos - 43rd round - (No School)
Charlie Lamar - 49th round - (High School)

1B

Richard Prigatano - 16th round - (High School)
John Coy - 45th round - (College)

SS

Christian Lopes - 7th round - (High School)
Andrew Burns - 11th round - (College) Signed
K'Shawn Smith - 23rd round - (College)
Austin Nola - 31st round - (College)

3B

Matt Dean - 13th round - (High School) - Rumoured to be Signed
Austin Davis - 47th round - (High School)

Outfielders

Dwight Smith - 1st Supplemental round - (High School)
John Norwood - 12th round - (College)
Derrick Lovelace - 27th round - (High School)
Jacob Wakamatsu - 48th round - (High School)

Signed

Anderson (OF - 1st Round), Musgrove (RHP - 1st round), Gabryszwski (RHP - 2nd round),Burns (SS - 11th round),
Berti
(2B - 18th round), Mooney (SS - 21st round), Rollins (LHP - 24th round), Arce (1B 25th round),
Atkinson
(SS - 26th round),Vega-Rosado (SS - 28th round), Cole (RHP - 29th round), Patterson (1B - 30th round),
Pillar (OF - 32nd round), Champlin (RHP - 33rd Round), Munoz (C - 34th round), Sikula (RHP - 36th round),

(RHP - 37th round), Taylor (RF - 38th round), Baligod (OF - 40th round), Barrett (SS - 41st round),
Davis
(LHP - 42nd round) , Broussard (RHP - 44th round), Farrel (RHP - 46th round), Brown (RHP - 50th round)

There been any news on Ricky's brother? I remember reading he was drafted in the 47th round. I just don't see any mention of him above
