I seem to recall reading more than once that her Dad was active and very vocal in getting her help and trying to keep her in treatment programs

TBQH I would have been more surprised if the thread was "Amy Winehouse still alive and doing well".

I don't exactly have a world full of sympathy for her, but in what way precisely could that be true?

What a stupid thing to say. To those that knew her, like family and freinds, the world is definitely not better without her. To those that didn't know her, it doesn't make a difference.

Not having millions of fans looking up to a drug abuser is one way.

Whatever. I'm happy she's dead. Now if Charlie sheen can find a way to OD I'd be even more happier. Maybe these guys will finally learn that drugs do kill.

While some people liked her music, I don't think anyone admired how she abused drugs.

I actually put a lot of thought into it and I don't see how it's unnecessary in a thread about her death. Like I said I feel sorry for her family and friends. I've never had any sympathy for anyone who kills themself by Overdosing. I mentioned a couple months ago how I lost my cousin to a drug overdose and I said the exact same then that I said now. Drugs do kill, and it's not an accident when it does happen. It's stupidity.

Really?
Because there are a hell of a lot of people who believe that drugs bring you to a higher state of consciousness and promote creativity.
Just ask the followers of Hunter S. Thompson.

Can't believe someone can say they're 'happy' someone died.
A rapist, murderer, child abuser, Hitler.............sure.
But she was a singer who obviously had some demons that she couldn't control. Perhaps you don't have to shed a tear, but to proclaim your happiness over the situation is asinine.

Unnecessary in that there is no reason to share every thought with the world. Some things you just keep to yourself. Especially telling the board that the world is better off because someone notorious for hurting herself has died. That's just cold, and I think less of a person who would reveal such feelings.

Well IMO a drug abuser is just as bad as the people you mentioned. Some rapists, and even murderers also have demons they can't control. It's not like I'm here doing cartwheels over her death, but I'm not sad at all. Maybe happy was the wrong word, but I really think it might be a good thing. Maybe a lesson to millions of people and a reminder of the dangers of taking too much drugs.
