Yeah, it is pretty nuts here - I'm about 3 buildings down from the fire right now, and tons of police, fire and EMS blocking traffic. I couldn't get into my parkade - had to walk in.
Thoughts and prayers.

Hope you flipped off those Fire and EMS jerks.

Makes me wonder if this building cheaped out on its fire guarding and sprinkler systems. Fire-rated drywalled walls should last 90 minutes before catching on fire. There might be more to this story...

Actually, just to spite them, I tried tossing a couple molotovs cocktails in other condo complexes around the city, just so they would GTFO of my way.

^^ was that the grand opening? everything looks normal.

Maybe if you had a bigger picture it would be more clear.

Isn't there some sort of ironic message here? A rainstorm setting a building on fire?

It's how 99% of wild fires (lightning) are started.

Trees are wood, as are the majority of low rise condos.

I live in the 9-story building (3000.) I was quite freaked when I saw on Twitter that there was a fire at 24 Hemlock Cres. Really sad when someone's home burns down, and this feels more real.

This has kind of ruined my night.

Got this off Twitter: http://twitpic.com/5u84rb

What the hell are you talking about?

99% of wild fires are started by Sunshine, and god using a magnifying glass to set things a blaze when he is bored.

Went for a walk around the block a while ago. Still a ton of activity, I counted 8 fire trucks parked, but seemingly not in use.

I talked to a police officer who said all the parkades are closed, as is the street to make room for emergency vehicles, but all down the street there are cars parked on the grass and anywhere a spot is available.

My parkade is open, however--I wonder if it the only one that is. I think there might be two entrances to my parkade, and one of them--the one I use--is not on Hemlock Cr, maybe that's why.
